Those boneheaded mistakes are exactly why he wasn't starting last year because he made a bunch of them in practice. I believe that he has a tremendous upside and is capable of being a very good quarterback, but he makes mistakes that are baffling at times.

Talent can get you through high school, but at some point you need to show progress. Sorry, but I don’t think this guy has a high football IQ.

I would’ve expected more from a kid coming from that high profile of a high school program
However…… Dabo did not play him enough last year.
Our OL is really bad. A lack of competitive depth. Our room is not big enough and we certainly don’t have 10 to 11 guys that we can count on.

I'm sure he was making these mistakes in practice when they kept saying he wasn't ready. They finally put him in when things got dire late in the year with DJ.

In his defense, I think the underlying problem is that Dabo coaches this team like we still have Trevor Lawrence, Travis Etiene, Tee Higgins, and Justin Ross on the team. I think that he still thinks he can roll guys out there and just make a bunch of big plays. These players obviously need more coaching on fundamentals.
