Sad but true!!! And I have tried several times to explain there is far more to the story . Some key facts have been left out. But it seems to be that almost everyone on tigernet is very quick to past judgment on the landlord.

You need to stop trying to cover for that no good landlord. I've seen enough of your excuses. No reasonable person would do this. I couldn't care less what the contract says. It's bogus. Your argument is bogus. The man should stay there and let you and your worthless bud try to throw them out. Hope they take it to court too. Would love to be on that jury!!

I agree I would like to see it go to court. Then the whole truth comes out . I am wondering just how many people would be willing to say they were wrong

Since you seem so intent on getting the "truth" out there and you're on an anonymous message board, maybe you could indulge some details that would shut us up? Because as far as I can tell, there's always some nitpicky clause in a contract you can invoke if you want to be a grade A #####. Following the letter of the law and being a reasonable person aren't mutually exclusive.
Others who have made comments about the PR damage are absolutely correct. It's a shame that you (whether you're the landlord or a friend) would rather spend time hinting at things and acting like there's some big mystery behind then than coming out and addressing the situation in a reasonable way.
The damage is already done. Good luck getting people to care about all the rest due to your blatant failure in human communication.

"landlord" is a friend of a friend of the property owner. No way a legitimate real estate professional does or says what he did. Unbelievable.
Glad the story made national news so this situation can be corrected!

Common sense isn't that common.

I understand that there is a lease and that it needs to be upheld. However, who does the landlord thinks pays the rent? The wife is a student and the husband is a Soldier. I would bet money that the husband is using his BAH from his Army service to support his wife while she is attending school at the greatest university in South Carolina. I'm sure that there is a way around this greedy landlord's demands. Maybes he Soldier could sleep in his car for one night, which would give him another 7 days with his wife. I'm sure that someone from the military friendly Central and Clemson community would offer for him to stay a night at their place so that this brave Soldier can spend Christmas with his wife and new born baby.
It is evident that the landlord never served his country or never had anyone close to him sacrifice for his freedom. If that had happened then he would probably have a different outlook on this situation. I have a calm and peaceful demeanor, but this really pisses me off. I hope that all the pressure and media attention creates change in this Soldier's situation. It's a sad state of affairs that it even has gotten to this point.

What are the real details on this? Are they as FOX has reported it? Waiting to find out the whole story before I get really pissed off. Being a CU grad and veteran this really ticks me off.

No all the details are not out. Also what Fox is reporting is for the most part true, the problem is they only know some of what happened. The soldier failed choose to leave out some key facts. Now he choose to do this to make the landlord look as bad as he possibly could, and it worked. I hope the owners of the Groves come out with a detailed statement that tells the entire story . If that happens I think many people will look at this story completely different
