Less bowl games to accommodate top 30 football

Ask yourself do you enjoy seeing two 6-6 teams play in a meaningless bowl game? I mean more and more players are choosing to sit out of these games every year. So isn’t it about time each bowl game becomes a reward instead of a participation trophy? So why not only have 9 bowl games for teams that rank 13-30. Obviously teams 1-12 go to the playoffs but by reducing the bowl games so that only the top 30 plays in bowl/playoff season it makes these bowls more meaningful. And makes them more of a reward then a participation trophy. Therefore people are excited to watch because they know there gonna get to see two ranked teams play in each bowl. And less players will sit out because there actually playing for something that you have to earn on the field. I mean face it there is no excitement watching two 6-6 teams play in a bowl.

Too much $$$ going to conferences… bowls… cities… etc.

Can’t stop the money train. That is the reason that 6-6 teams play and lower level bowls were added. It’s said to see a bowl in tv with 1/2 the seats empty but they are make big tv and sponsor money.

Why do people think we need to find a solution to having too many bowl games? What if the people who thought these games were meaningless just chose not to watch? Wouldn't that solve the problem?

Dawg, I fully agree with you on this issue. Bowl games mean a lot of revenue for some of the smaller cities such as, restaurants, hotels, etc. I did just what you suggested this year. I did not watch many of the bowl games that I didn’t care about the two teams.

Not to mention that most bowl games are a big fundraiser for their respective charities.

What is the harm of a meaningless football game during the holidays? At *WORST* its a boring game, at best its entertainment.
