Ex-ESPN employees sue Disney over vaccine mandate

This isn't going to go well for them.

"Faber based her refusal on her faith in God providing her with “the perfect immune system he put in my body before I was ever born” and resistance to reliance on fetal cell lines in the vaccine’s development.

"Faber’s religious exemption was denied and she lost her job after 31 years with the network. In the lawsuit, Faber recalls an ESPN HR rep advising her, “Maybe God has led you to a new career, when God closes a door, he opens another.” Now, that’s a subtle jab."

They also seem to claim that ESPN being a private employer doesn't apply to their situation because the military sponsors stuff on the network.

The poster child of the elusive herd immunity and no masks, this past week they had 503 people die FROM covid. And before you say that's a low number, Sweden and North Carolina have similar populations. If the US was like Sweden, we'd currently be having a top 10 highest week of deaths of the pandemic in the US. Higher than Delta, nearly equal to omicron, and only slightly below the all-time high in January 2021. As for NC, Sweden is right at the same level of weekly deaths as NC's worst weeks of the pandemic.

16,057 deaths a week is what we'd have here in the US at Sweden's current levels. We've only had 10 weeks, at the peak of omicron, and in January 2021, where the US tallied more than 16,000 deaths per week. Sweden is capping off their 9th deadliest week of the pandemic last week, and are in a similar situation as if the US had 2,300 covid deaths PER DAY.

What has Sweden done as a result of this new peak in deaths? Yep, they've started testing travelers from China. That's it. No word on the deaths. ;)

And let's all pray Sweden has just given up testing. Because they're registering a peak of 503 deaths per week with a prior (5) weeks peak of 13,000 CASES. Now, Sweden had LESS deaths when omicron hit, and they had 286,000 cases, per week.

While I support a private company being able to mandate this, I don't really like it. Could not ESPN have offered an option of frequent testing and mask wearing since we are told how effective both are? Are they is another question?

31 years is a long career to toss aside over a vaccine that while protecting against severe COVID and hospitalization does not prevent one from getting COVID nor spreading it.

I chose the initial series of the vaccine followed by the standard booster and the bivalent booster based on age and my need to be around two 90 yr old parents, so I'm not anti vaccine nor oppose a private company from requiring the vaccine, but there should be other options since some of the vaccinated ESPN folks surely developed COVID and spread it too.

The one size fits all approach seems too rigid especially when this vaccine is not a one and done or even a one and done booster. Does ESPN require its employees to have a Pertussis vaccination? If not why not, as their employees may be responsible for making infants very sick? Does ESPN require the flu vaccine? If not, why not as the flu kills tens of thousands annually?

Even the military has backed off this.
