Great read, and appreciate hearing several new faces are stepping up.
We knew linebacker depth was a concern, so is DE the second position of concerning depth (per the article)?

I think it is. It’s certainly what I’m concerned about.

big time minutes . they are that good
the LB situation is not a problem, as Crayton and Anderson will be ready to start (though they won't) vs Notre Dame

Hadn't heard about Trotter's injury until this report. Anyone have any more details?
Do we have anyone else with LB experience? Are we just going to play nickel defense?

I hope that the doctors will be able to save the leg.

Dumb question as obviously coaches know best but could we cross train XT as linebacker? That is where he will play in the NFL.

If XT played LB in the League, it would only be outside in a 3-4 scheme on passing downs. He is going to be drafted by a team that wants a Vic Beasley type pass rusher. He doesn’t have the hips and change of direction to play full time traditional LB in college, much less the NFL

The injury bug has killed us the last three seasons. Hopefully we get lucky this year.

having an intimidating defense. I want teams to be afraid of our boys.

Very thin at linebacker. Could we play a 5-2 front if need be?

My very uneducated reaction.

I would suspect that the defense will be in a 4-2-5 often. With Woodaz capable of playing all three positions that gives a nice rotation with all three able to get rest and not have a big dropoff.
I don't know enough about the safeties, but I can see the possibility of a 3-3-5 being run. You gotta have a LB who can rush the passer, a safety who can play LB. But, with the quality and depth of the DL, it may be tough for Wes not to have 4 DL on the field even in passing downs.
I sure don't know enough, but I gotta wonder if passing downs may be a 4-1-6 with Woodaz being one of the 6, essentially a safety who can walk up to the LOS or drop back to LB or even start 8 yards off LOS.
Just spitballing on my part. I trust Wes and company.

Some of these Defensive Ends could play a little inside Linebacker as well as outside.
Looks like we're still headed for a 3-4 or that 3-3-5 look again with the depth issues.
Sudden attrition is the one thing that will flip a game and a season.

Story is confusing and incorrect. From my reading of multiple TigerNet articles, we are deep at all positions and could be vulnerable I’d several injuries happen. What else is new. My read is ok on D for the season start.
