Do any of y’all actually stay up intentionally to bring in the new year? Or is this mostly a young person’s celebration event?

I think the idea is based on W.C Fields or Winston Churchill… one of those famous drunks.Basically to paraphrase, get so shizzfaced and hungover on Jan 1st that every other day of the year almost has to be better.

Nah you probably have it right. Now that I’m in my 50’s, if a hangover is the worst thing I have to deal with in a years time, it’s a freakin banner year. Haven’t done any special for NYE is years either… seems like a good way to #### away money, potentially put myself in a bad situation, and feel like hell the next day or two. Also 100% say or do something I’ll regret later.

Staying sober keeps that to like, 94.5% or so.

I usually pull it off anyway naturally. I dislike New Year's Eve though and I am always glad when it is over.
