They are stealing YOUR electricity and giving you cents on the dollar for it and then selling it back to you for 10 times more and making you pay electricity from the power company for your power you harvested.

Changing the export rate was long overdue in CA...

the previous export rate was $0.30/kWh, which is insane and utilities were forced to pay that rate to homeowners with little-to-no control over how much and where the solar was installed. Non-solar homes were essentially paying for their neighbors to install solar. Rooftop/distributed solar is an technology that is passing in favor of large utility-level solar installs that are much better from an engineering/grid stability perspective.

For context, I just checked the CAISO page and day-ahead pricing is currently $57/MWh = $0.057/kWh. That means a utility can put power on the open market for $0.057/kWh and they used to be forced to pay solar home-owners $0.30/kWh or about 5 times the current day-ahead rate today (during the summer months, that premium would normally be less).

All those left wing solar loving hippies shouldn't carr about something as base as utility rates. They should be happy to pay whatever their commie overlords tell them as long as it's good for the climate. This almost makes it sound like they were doing it for economic benefit instead which could never be the case.
