Best college football road trips???

I read an article by a Florida fan who visited A&M last week and complemented A&M on being a great host. I had heard the same from Tiger fans concerning A&M but unfortunately didn't go. I have visited several ACC and SEC destinations and have found VT to be the best and most welcoming so far, BC was OK but mostly indifferent, UGA and SCAR are horrible. I have even visited SCAR for non-Clemson games as an observer and still horrible. What have been your best road trips and if you have visited Clemson as an opponent I would like to hear about your experience. I have linked the article:

Fans were horrible. Tailgating scene was non-existent. Stadium atmosphere was a joke.

Maryland used to rank right down there with trips to Athens and Raleigh. Maryland fans were terrible hosts and Byrd Stadium was a complete dump. However, the last two or three trips to College Park were much better.

I think the answer to your question will vary greatly....

because those factors that make a road tipe more fun or enjoyable are a little different for everyone. As an example, some people focus almost exclusively on the actual game experience while some others focus more on the entertainment type options that are available in the days before the actual game.
That said, A&M was a great trip IMO. I have also enjoyed trips to Missouri, Auburn, FSU, Miami, Maryland, and Boston.
Georgia and NC State generally rank among the worst trips because the fans are so vile and repugnant.

"non-vulgar" (for lack of a better term) the atmosphere is. I usually take one or two pre-teen daughters with me. At VT people walked up to us and welcomed us, no vulgar language. At BC people spoke if we approached them but didn't approach us, no vulgar language. At UGA and SCAR (no daughters here, just me and other adults) we felt threatened, and vulgar language was yelled at us and directed at the Tiger Tailgate Show, both very vulgar. I understand that the experience is based on your own actions and we are always on our best behavior.

against Penn State and Nebraska while West Virginia, Mississippi State, LSU and Syracuse fans were among the worst. I can only imagine that trips to those schools as an opposing fan would be similar.

I had a good time at Auburn

tailgated with some Auburn folks, walked around the campus a little. Their fans were a little mouthy but I chalked that up to being a well-oiled night game.
UGA depends greatly on where you get to park and how you have to get into the stadium. There are some places that are fun but UGA has the potential to be the worst place to go.
NCSU is like South Carolina fans, except with more bowl wins.
I've been to both Auburn and Tennesee for non-Clemson games and they were extremely fun. I'll take the boat up to Knoxville if I ever get to go to a game there again.
Amazingly Kentucky was a good place to watch a game, but that might have been more due to the fans making a giant migration over from Keeneland to the game.
GT on a Thursday night (with or without Clemson) is also a decent place to go for a game. I've never bought GT tickets when Clemson wasn't playing, but I've never turned down Thursday night tickets when given them.

Day-in and day out, the most friendly ladies I have met.
If I were a younger single man, I'd be headed to Athens frequently.

I got to spend last football season in Madison, and it was party atmosphere for the entire game day experience.
