Michelle Obama is terrified of what might happen in the 2024 election...

Michelle Obama: "The fact that people think that government, does it really even do anything? And I’m like, ‘Oh my God, does government do everything for us.’ And we cannot take this democracy for granted. And sometimes I worry that we do."

This quote shows how Mrs Obama views Government - a cradle to grave master who "do everything for us". Have no doubt - a "do everything for us" Government is tyrannical by its very nature. I find it rich that Mrs Obama, who has worked her whole life to increase the size, scope, and authority of Government is now terrified that the very monster she and her ilk have worked so hard to create may fall into the hands of someone she considers a "bully".

This shows just how short sighted and, quite frankly, arrogantly tyrannical people like the Obama's really are. They want a Government with the power to run everything in our lives but only when it is in the hands of people they like and are working towards their agendas. A heavy handed Federal Government is apparently good so long as it resides under the control of people who share the same leftist mind as the Obama's.

Gee Mrs Obama - maybe if you and your like minded friends hadn't spent decades ripping us from our limited Federal Government founding principles you would never fear who the people choose to occupy the White House. There would be no fear because with a small, limited Federal Government the occupant of the White House would not have the power to "do everything for us" or as it is becoming "everything to us". What a mealy mouthed hypocrite...

That's a whole lot of extrapolation from that short quote.

It's also not surprising that lifelong politicians (and their spouses) overstate the relative importance of government, which happens on both sides of the aisle.

I had literally any living memory of Republicans trying to limit federal government. Every single GOP budget is like 8% increase in military spending, increase the deficit, but #### npr and take away WIC.

That's why I'm a Conservative and not a Republican or a Democrat....

In the old days "Rockefeller Republicans" were the big Government Republicans. After Reagan they were supplanted by the "Bush Republicans" which run and control the establishment Republican Inc. today.

Big Government Republicans (i.e. Republican Inc.) are no better than today's Democrats with the only real difference being the pace of Government growth and to which set of friends they give our tax dollars too.

I'll at least give the Democrats some credit - they don't try to hide their desire to grow Government like the weasels of Republican Inc. do. I find them both despicable and responsible for the shidstorm of Federal debt and the massive Government bureaucratic State whose greatest desire is to regulate every aspect of our lives.

Voted for Trump in the general elections because to vote for Hillary or Biden was a complete abdication to the radical left which is total lunacy IMO.

I won't vote for Trump in the upcoming primary either - probably Haley at this point. I've made no secret of what I think about Trump. Sure - I favor some of Trump's policies but as I have covered in numerous other posts - he is an undisciplined, narcissistic man-child that sabotages his own policy agenda through general stupid behavior, unnecessary fights with trolls, and a general lack of not knowing when to shut the F up.

So 2024 is shaping up to be like almost every other election for me - I vote for who I believe to be the "lessor of the evils" based on expressed policy positions and little else.

Falsehood flies, and truth comes limping after it, so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late; the jest is over, and the tale hath had its effect: like a man, who hath thought of a good repartee when the discourse is changed, or the company parted; or like a physician, who hath found out an infallible medicine, after the patient is dead.

Better said “if you do not vote for Joe Biden and do vote for Donald Trump, you are not a reasonable and informed American. Why do I say this, because I went to law school and thus smarter than other Americans.”

She specifically says, in the interview, that it's not about being afraid for herself personally.

So presidents are responsible for gas prices and the economy, but NOT the debt the country accumulates during their term in office.
