Welp, the Tigers move to 4-0 after an exciting game on Saturday.
Offense looked pretty good, DJ continues to improve. Loved the stanky leg completion. He certainly was afforded time by his OL and that didn't hurt at all. TEs are emerging as real threats ala the Jordan Leggett days. I thought the WRs looked improved, and Antonio W seems to be part of the solution within that group.
Shipley is the tip of the sword for this group, and his last TD run was a microcosm of what you get with that kind. He gets stood up and proceeds to defy logic, physics, and gravity while throwing himself 2-3 yards into the end zone. I have to think he walks around campus sounding like Eminem and it's all he can do to not revert to that during interviews. He also has some kind of tweak in his brain that allows him to choose violence on the field and his crazy eyes back that up.
As for special teams, the punting situation has room for lots of improvement. Potter showed yumongous bawls by smoking the 52 yard layup in crunch time. He may end up being a difference maker in another game or two as things unfold.
Defensively, lots to unpack. The overall performance wasn't good until a stop was needed to win the game. I think some combination of a new DC, injuries, and lack of depth in the secondary are to blame here. Is Wes in over his head? Naw, but keep in perspective the shoes he is filling. He's coming in behind perhaps the best DC in the history of college football. I'd imagine he has a few things to work out as he improves his in-game calling of plays. From what I understand he's implemented new terminology and has made adjustments to the overall scheme. It will take time for those things to sort out.
Injuries certainly are not helping. Tyler D and 11 were VERY impactful late in the game, and with our depth along the DL I expect more from the group. At LB we are replacing a TON of experience and talent between Spector and Skalski. Our secondary is really suffering due to injuries. Having 3 dudes out and a gimpy (hammy) Nate W didn't help, especially against likely a bunch of 23 yr old 6th year dudes. The Wake QB ain't no joke either.
Natty contender yet? Nope. Could this still turn out to be a group that plays in the final 4? Yep. Would I bet on it? No, not now. Could we find ourselves out of the ACCCG or losing that game? We could. Time will tell as the team needs to continue to develop.
CFB can produce crazy results (See last weekend). It wouldn't be crazy to acknowledge 2-3 losses are possible with this group, as is a CFP appearance. Will be fun to see how things unfold.
The end, go Tigers!

Trouble is, I don't want my stunning looks to take away from thoughtful discussion.

I've done my share of whining this season...

but I haven't forgotten all the times I accused Dabo of manufacturing adversity to harden our players. That seems to be his way of making them the best they can be at the end of the season. It's hard not to trust Dabo when you're 4-0 after seeing him manage games to appear to be anyone's game during the 4th quarter.
We're not strangers to seeing Clemson as 'meh,' all year then see the best team in College take the field wearing the PAW during the post season.

I’ll give you that.
But can Mexico get out of group play in Qatar?
