My biggest fear..

My biggest fear with all the conference expansion talk is being left behind which could be truly devastating for Clemson athletics, especially football. The Big XII seems like the most likely option IF we make a move. The SEC is more exciting to me personally because we simply have more tradition playing SEC schools, but obviously this option seems to be slim. The idea of Big XII talk by us and FSU solely to bait the SEC to make a move on us is an intriguing idea, but I'm afraid its more of a fairy tale. (Can't say that I can give TDP/Barker that much credit for a master plan, unless FSU officials talked them into it..)
But again I fear that FSU is fed up and will jump at the opportunity to make a move to the Big XII, Clemson (meaning our administration) stalls and is slow on the trigger or is left out all together for Miami, Va Tech, or some other partner to jump with FSU. We remain in this conference with Swofford running it further into the ground losing even more respect in the College football world as we attempt to pick up Big East teams to avoid a complete ACC collapse.
I understand those of you that believe that the ACC is the path of least resistance to the BCS/NC and I agree but if the conference collapses or takes a major blow when FSU and possibly another school leave, we will be wishing we had made a move..
Thoughts?

people with some actual sense running the show. We need people who are in touch with what's going on behind closed doors and who have a vision for the future of this athletic department. In my (disclaimer: very, very limited, anecdotal) experience with the some of the people inside the AD, well, I guess you could say I was a bit underwhelmed. I don't know, I just feel like there is a bit too much of the good 'ol boy influence and stagnant thinkers. This ain't the same landscape anymore. We need killers and mercenaries at all levels--from AD on down to the marketing folks. I'll admit it: I'm troubled right now. I don't want to see us fall by the wayside.

pretty good job with that little school that is stuck up there at the foot of the mountains. No bigger than we are, we have been a thorn in everybody's back side. I would hat to wind up being a annoying pimple.

FSU and GTech (to get Atlanta), leaving the ACC in disarray. If the ACC becomes unstable, NCSU and VT could come into play for the SEC, which could leave Clemson royally screwed.

Big if, but if that were to play out, we might as well take down the upper decks and partner with ECU in C-USA...
