I’ve never gotten a thumbs down from an actual Tnet contributor; kinda cool. What is is about my post that you disagree with? Search is always an option; search strip on the forum and you’ll find 15 or so threads on this topic.

bretfsu® Thanks for posting this article which is new to me, and I have not seen on any other threads.

This is a sad situation for sure.

Was she "dating" players? Because that's what it looks like***

"escorting" is my guess.

Yes. They definitely need to be escorted.

Honestly it’s really a nice service that Uga provides for its players.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Their AD is quick to tell you that this was off the clock,

even though the University rented the vehicle in the accident

2024 white level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Has it been reported that UGA rented the vehicle?

Jan 26, 2023, 6:06 PM

I've seen speculation. But, I haven't seen any report as a fact.

"Escorting" would imply that she was performing that

I was thinking that other type of escorting.

“Coach Smart and I are also actively reviewing relevant football policies, and at the conclusion of that review, we will take steps to implement any improvements in our policies and procedures that may be needed.”

What a load of BS. They know exactly what’s going on down there. That’s code for “we are working our butts off to cover this up and make sure we tie up all the loose ends on all the other cheating we are doing”

The only difference is that the people asking Kirby and the uga bubba network the questions now will have subpoenas or will be from New York and out for blood.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My first 2 questions.

Jan 26, 2023, 2:24 PM

1. Who paid for the vehicle?
2. Is that an appropriate picture of a University of GA employee to be placed on an official UGA website?

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

what picture are you referring to?

Jan 26, 2023, 4:23 PM

Jan 27, 2023, 8:00 AM [ in reply to My first 2 questions. ]

That picture is from her instagram according to the article.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You forgot to ask, Is it appropriate for a UGA employee to

Jan 27, 2023, 9:03 AM [ in reply to My first 2 questions. ]

be at a strip club, escorting them after hours. Maybe:
1. They were picking up the players after the players had been there and had a few drinks and they needed a ride home.
2. They were escorting them as part of her job.
3. They were escorting them after hours.
4. They were socializing with them at a strip club.

The optics are terrible. The outcome is horrible. Bad decisions were made. Nothing good happens at that time of night, except sleep.

And there's a link from that article to the arrest of uga WR "Rava" somebody for domestic battery. He was new from the portal and projected as a starter.

Re: New York Post article on crash.

Jan 26, 2023, 3:08 PM

Same here, but I am really trying to refrain from speculating about most of them out of respect for the young people who were killed in this accident and their families. Who rented the vehicle might end up being a big factor on how this all gets settled. I just have a bad feeling that UGA could take the easy way out and say the young woman was acting in her own without permission and basically place all the blame on her. That would be the easy way out because she is not here to defend herself.

Jan 26, 2023, 3:26 PM

The key witness to everything is Tory Bowles. If she survives she has all the answers if she is put under oath and will testify.

2024 white level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oh, that is definitely what they will say

1

Jan 26, 2023, 3:31 PM [ in reply to Re: New York Post article on crash. ]

The problem is they are going to ask anyone who has every been on staff if they were asked to do things like this in the past.

And if you think this is the first time a vehicle rented or owned by UGA has been driven by a staffer paid by UGA to take UGA players and recruits to a club on “unofficial” business and if you think there isn’t a culture of “this is your freaking job to do whatever it takes”, then you are naive

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Oh, that is definitely what they will say

2

Jan 26, 2023, 3:39 PM

Tory Bowles is a staffer and was a passenger in the car in question. She has the answers to who what and why of this particuliar event.

Re: Oh, that is definitely what they will say

Jan 27, 2023, 7:10 AM [ in reply to Oh, that is definitely what they will say ]

Far from naive. As I said, I am refraining from posting my speculations out of respect for the dead and their families. I’ve also seen and heard enough to know the large entities (schools, corporations, governments) have a knack for distancing themselves from these types of incidents - sometimes by whatever means necessary.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah I get that

Jan 27, 2023, 7:27 AM

Also, didn’t mean to insinuate that you were naive. I meant it more broadly to address anyone that might think that this is a one-off occurrence and that UGA doesn’t have a systemically corrupt football program that’s been protected by state politicians and the SEC

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Yeah I get that

1

Jan 27, 2023, 8:01 AM

Yea. And it probably happens at a lot more schools than just UGA.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I remember when it was first posted on here and people started commenting.

Jan 27, 2023, 1:15 AM

I read the article and it was clear crystal clear that whoever was driving was driving excessively fast. I mean really really fast! And of course a few people attacked me and tried to make excuses. But after seeing the pictures of the SUV yesterday it was obvious that girl must’ve been going 90 miles an hour if not more. Because that SUV was pretty much totally destroyed.

I would not be shocked if the families of the players that died sue her family. There are gonna be a lot of lawsuits because of this. This was pure negligence. Had she survived she probably would’ve been arrested for reckless homicide.

This is really poor, insensitive reporting:

”the car crash that killed football player Devin Willock and a recruiting staff member”

Why do they name the player, but not the “staff member”. Her name isn’t provided until later in the article.

Jan 27, 2023, 8:13 AM

I am not understanding the role of GA in this. Where is the self responsibility? Did GA tell these folks that they were required to hit a strip club in the middle of the night? I honestly could care less whose car it is the kids decided to drive it there and supposedly that DUI was a good idea. I am not sure if that has been reported but one just assumes. Tragic none the less but the same would have happened if it was there own car.

Here is the difference.

Jan 27, 2023, 9:35 AM

Note: This is an analogy. Every analogy breaks down if you carry it too far.
Note2: I am not an attorney. I do not claim to know the legal ramifications of the incident.

Now, for the analogy.

My son has a party at my house. He has a few friends over. I get a baby sitter. I leave the house. I give her the keys to my car. I tell her to take the kids out for Pizza and then to a movie. She drives the car and gets into a wreck, her fault, and injuries occur.

What is my moral and my legal responsibility for the tragedy?
