Next Season

What a great team this past 3 years and now on to more. I believe we have enough quality players plus some good frosh coming in that we will not slip badly. My major concern in this: For the past 3 years we have been capable of striking from anyplace on the field. I just don't see that next year. I'm hoping but at this point just can't get myself to see it and feel it. We will need a new "style" as opposed to the "quick strike". What do you think?

Good point. The quick strike was effective and fun to watch with guys like Boyd, Sammy, Nuk, and Bryant.
The good news is: Gallman and Dye should bring in a new era of Clemson offense. Looking at Auburn this year, you can be very effective with some mis-direction and a couple of effective runners. Unlike Auburn, Clemson will have a far superior passer than Nick Marshall. I look for a more balanced offense that eats clock without as many homerun threats.
Of course, none of this matters if the O-line can't improve, or at least, maintain the same level of play from this year. See 2008 Clemson Tigers

you have Humphries who is a possession receiver. You also played two stud freshmen at receiver. One a big physical kid and the other a speedster. you return all of your tight ends. at the qb position.... there is a fifth year senior and a 3rd year sophomore. plus the nations number one quarterback. at lot of reasons to be excited

Please don't get me wrong--I'm always excited about the Tigers. Just a little concerned with all the NFL losses coming our way. I guess another way to look at it is we will know for sure just how good our recruiting has been. Personally, I think we've got the players so as to suffer a little downgrade but not much at all. I can't wait to see the QB battle.

Williams will be better than Bryant. Hopper will emerge and keep an eye on T.J. Green this off season. Peake, if healthy, was the fastest player on the team. We'll see how he bounces back. The 3 freshmen all have great potential coming in and going through spring ball will be a great advantage.
Jordan Legget will be a star at TE and Milam Richard coming in is also a stud.
Anyone not excited about seeing what Dye, Gallman and Choice who is coming in can do is nuts. Watch C.J. Davidson this spring, great speed. Will be interested to see if Brooks and Howard sim ply get passed.
Stoudt will be an effective QB in the system, and Kelly a nice change of pace. Look at other teams who run a similar system. They lose guys, next guy up still prduces. Will be the same here.
We'll see plenty of big plays next season!

Good Point on the TE's

Great way to get a new QB broken in into a hurry up offense: give him a good TE or two (see T Boyd/Dwayne Allen 2011). Leggett should be much improved and TE should be a strong point next year.

down and new blood takes over. This is true in most ventures, and football is no different.
That's why recruiting and training is an on-going exercise with the responsibility being on the staff to assure fluidity in the operations of the program.
Quite often, much to the surprise of many, a fresh talent will emerge who proves as worthy of our accolades as those superior performers they have replaced. And that's what makes each season so exciting...watching another Tajh or Sammy or Nuk or CJ or......come along.
