NFL Mock Drafts

How much stock do you put in mock drafts? Are they like picking the next great company stock where throwing a dart at a list of stocks has an equal outcome?

This year looking at the top three in just about every list being Williams, Maye and Daniels I think some poor team (Like New England) will bite and it will be a swing and a miss. For me the only time I think a team should draft a qb high on the hog is when they have the other parts in place. Look at how many QB's went to Cleveland where they tried to save a terrible franchise with a top QB draft and missed over and over because the rest of the team sucked.

Will be interesting to see where JJ McCaffery goes in the draft, i've seen mock drafts having him going as high as #3, i didn't see that QB at Michigan.

Props to Kiper for creating the industry. But to your point, it's often an inaccurate science even for so-called draft experts, like annually picking a March Madness bracket.

Is success determined by accurately guessing the draft order or by accurately forecasting the future NFL performance of draftees? (e.g. See Ryan Leaf, Josh Rosen, Tom Brady, Brock Purdy) ...

I put a lot of stock in mock drafts, not in their accuracy but in their effectiveness of keeping the NFL in the media year round. Mel Kiper and his ilk are well paid hype men and do their jobs well. They're as accurate as Ronnie Milsap in dart tournament. Predicting how 32 teams with different offensive and defensive schemes will value thousands of eligible players at 11 different positions is impossible. Having people offended and questioning your rankings of their favorite players is easy.
