Nice story on Rick Majerus. Kind of worries you though.

I know it's not Clemson related, but I felt it was something worthy of being shared. For those of you who do, please keep him in your prayers. I've always liked him as a coach and person.

Re: Nice story on Rick Majerus. Rick and I share a mutual

friend. This friend is a really great person who gets along well folks and knows Rick from his time prior to St Louis. He raves about what a neat guy RM is. While I've never met Rick this guy has told me enough that I fell certain I would like him. He is a great individual and I hope he gets well. Based on what little I knew I was concerned when Rick came back to coaching. Weight, heart problems, the underlying stress have all surfaced before and sadly seem to again. I hope he gets well. Coaching should be secondary here

Yeah I hope for the best for him. I've heard nothing but

good things about him. Always got a kick out of the fact that while coaching Utah he lived all those years in the presidential suite of the Salt Lake City Marriott.

I also had a lot of respect for him when he intentionally committed a NCAA violation while trying to tutor his players. He wanted to make sure they did well on their tests, so he had some guys over for a long study session. After about 10 hours guys were getting hungry and the dining halls had closed so Rick ordered pizzas for the guys so they could eat and continue studying. Obviously that's stupidly against NCAA rules to buy them pizza, but under the circumstances Rick didn't care.

He's a good man and I hope he gets better!

Majerus is a complicated dude

He had some strange habits and quirks, almost a split personality, and they were well known witin the program and the media that covered him. A guy that worked for me here in SLC, his brother played under Majerus. Transferred in from a JUCO, played one year and lit it up (he was their leading scorer), then left after one year, couldnt take some of the weird stuff that was going on.

Rick had a few he liked to single out and "motivate" and they had it pretty hard. Anyway, Majerus left after the next year, and this dude went back and finished off his career.

He is a great coach for sure, there is just a bit of a darker side to him.

This article gives you a little taste of it: http://deadspin.com/5439875/ahole-coach-digest-special-rick-majerus-edition
