NIL Competition Among Universities

Aug 31, 2022, 10:04 AM

Here is an example of what we are up against just in our own state.

https://247sports.com/college/south-carolina/Article/South-Carolina-Gamecocks-recruiting-partnership-everett-sports-marketing-million-dollar-decision-192337498/

I hope we continue to facilitate opportunities for all of our scholar athletes and look to build partnerships with marketing firms on a broad scale not just locally.

I have confidence that our athletic department will not sit still on this.

1 good thing about Nil is it may

keep kids in school longer. They probably make more from NIL in college than say a 4th or later round NFL pick.

Geville Tiger on Clemson football , "Dabo's only problem is he has to deal with turd fans questioning every move he makes.”

Since college is all no-rules, semi-pro now, why cannot colleges just buy players off of Professional teams? Should colleges have a payroll cap like the NFL?

Geez...how does this warrant a TD? I guess it is better to stay uninformed as to what others are doing.

Someone may have accidentally "TD" when they meant to "TU".

It's easy to do from a cell phone, it's happened to me several times and I always cringe afterwards. Don't worry about it and good post.

Call me crazy but eventually I think a lot of this NIL

Aug 31, 2022, 10:26 AM

money is going to dry up. To be sure - the big name all star college athletes will still make the bucks for endorsements.

However, I think there will come a point in the near future where a lack of return on investment (i.e. teams still not winning games/championships even with NIL money) starts to dry up the current NIL frenzy of attempting to pay every kid on the roster - especially at at school like USuC.

Every Saturday half the teams are going to lose and short of the few schools that have ridiculous amounts of Texas level oil money to throw away, a lot of NIL "investors" won't continue to pour money into NIL coffers year after year if the results don't really change (looking at you USuC)...

Remind me again how much money we've spent in Clemson on our football program the last decade or so?

30-0

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Even millions in nil money won’t bring them to relevance.

In fact, I see this being a future add on “to this is gamecock football “. Despite numerous advantages they just can’t beat powerhouse programs like the citadel, and I mean no disrespect to the citadel.
