NIL payout strategy...

Seems like most agree that NIL is hurting the game...it's definitely changing the landscape as players seem to be looking for the best deals and highest payouts for their services. Loyalty to a team/school seems to be on the decline. But this doesn't look like it's going away anytime soon.
Regardless of thoughts on NIL, just curious what the reaction would be to an alternate approach to NIL: rather than a company/collective having personal deals with a particular athlete, what if they did payouts based on week-to-week performance.
In other words, rather than a deal with athlete X for $750k/yr and a deal with athlete Y for $400k/yr, etc., what if after each game it was something like $25k for a touchdown, $50k for an interception/fumble-recovery, $1k per yard rushing/receiving, ...incentives for a pancake block...and so on, at every position.
Everyone on the team that produced some metric that week gets their weekly check based on performance, and maybe the top 5 get to be in that week's commercial for whatever company funds it or bids the most...(idk).
That way incentives are something anyone on the team could earn by producing on the field. It might minimize having some players getting all the love ($) while others are on scholarship only. It also could help motivate production from everyone.
Would this cut back on players leaving to "look for a better contract"? Maybe not if several schools switched to this model - it might just turn into "Ohio State's collective is offering $30k for a touchdown vs Clemson at $25k". But it seems like an interesting approach to me that would have benefits in that it rewards production and increases opportunity across the whole team - backups included. Just haven't heard anyone suggest anything like it and curious what TNet's take would be.
I personally agree that NIL is killing the sport and wish we could "go back to the old days", but that doesn't seem to be happening. Would a model like this be better or worse than the current system of per-player contracts?

It’s a good thought but would probably create more greed. A QB from the other team might throw a pick to one of his friends on the other team and split the money. Corruption is already starting to show its head in NIL and if there is incentives inside of games then it will get a whole lot worse. Another example would be coaches or universities holding players out of games to save money, etc.

Too complicated - if you wanted something like that you're better following the NFL incentives approach which is focused on seasonal achievements. And, honestly, that may be a thing already for collectives.
What honestly needs to happen is to recognize the student athletes as employees of the university and get the players union formed so we can get rails up and have unity moving forward instead of the wild wild west currently going on.
I don't like it any more than the next person but we just need to recognize what it is now so we can get some bumpers in place and stop the bleeding.

I'm genuinely asking this question, not trying to start a fight. I don't share this point of view but tons of people do and I'm trying to wrap my head around what I am missing. Appreciate your response.
From your perspective, what part of NIL is bad for or killing the game?

The whole point of NIL and the portal was to make sure the non-blue bloods like Clemson, Baylor, Cincinnati, etc. never sniff a National Championship again. ESPN could just focus on their favorites and it wouldn’t matter who wins since they are all in their little coterie. They didn’t like the rednecks moving into their nice neighborhood and acted quickly. Buying teams isn’t the “dark side” of NIL, it’s the intent and completely predictable from the get go.
The big boys would just say why go somewhere where they buckle and dime you? We offer guaranteed money.

The CFA & OU SCOTUS case opened the door to colleges and universities negotiating TV contracts removing the NCAA. Clemson and the ACC were part of the case. The Big 10 and then Pac 8 were not parties in the lawsuit back in 1984. The CFA was dissolved in 1997 as the big TV contracts were now fully functioning. In this new TV ratings driven model the teams and conferences need to draw ratings even more now to justify bigger TV contracts. Clemson is a smaller TV draw compared to ND, PSU, USC, etc., so more difficult to get into SEC and Big 10. Players brought lawsuits to get NIL and eventually pay. Coaches make millions in large part due to players. The NCAA's refusal to settle the 1984 SCOTUS case and subsequent ones have led to this situation. An alternative structure should have been created back in 1984.

How do you keep a backup if you base pay on performance?
What about when a starter gets hurt?
There are already NIL deals that require a player to be the starter by Sophomore year or whatever and presumably require a certain number of games played.
Didn't one guy transfer from Ohio State because of it?

If you disgrace the program by a gun crime, domestic violence, or other felony you get no more money and maybe have to repay some of what you got. Now we have had pretty good luck here but lots of schools have had issues and should make there be some accountability

on a “team.” The best football teams typically have a cohesiveness and allow others to take credit for different plays. I wouldn’t like where that is headed.
