NIL Thoughts and Implications for Recruiting

1

Jan 14, 2023, 9:21 AM

Ok I am a novice, but why are there not rules like, "NIL can't be discussed until after a player signs with a school?" Was that not the original intention: To let students gain monetarily from the use of their likeness. I think that the NCAA needs to have the balls to enforce rules against using NLI in recruiting. Thoughts?

Great post. They were suppose to distinguish themselves after they got to a school to earn some extra money not be paid 13 million in the recruiting process to gain influence for them to come to a school.

To enforce the rules, it takes someone to sing like a canary and give evidence. So far, that has not happened.

The guy in Miami that is bankrolling the Hurricanes supposedly had a visit from the NCAA. He himself stated that they could find anything wrong.

The first canary could be Jaden Rashada if he decides to sue the Florida collective.

I agree but the NCAA lost their manhood years ago.

The coaches recruited and landed their QB choice. Did the NLI collective change the deal causing the player to go elsewhere?

All that recruiting work gone. Coaches can't be happy with this system.

The NIL collective supposedly tried to cancel the SIGNED contract. They have reportedly offered a new contract for a lesser amount.

To talk NIL with a recruit “legally” I guess they can point to deals signed with comparable players at their school as examples. Hard to police against that. But everyone obviously isn’t doing it “legally”. What they better get a handle on is tampering. That is out of control.

Wow. NIL is a law that allows athletes to be compensated for a company/entity using their name, image or likeness. Pretty simple law.
