No way meeting should end without vote on keeping bowl money

May 15, 2012, 10:24 PM

Haven't heard if this is being considered, but this seems like something that FSU/Clemson/VaTech should demand. I get the splitting TV revenues equally for the sake of unity. But teams should keep all, or at least a majority of, the bowl money:

1. A direct way to reward schools for making football commitment.

2. Helps the football schools earn more revenue to compete in recruiting with SEC (Duke, Wake, BC, etc. do not have to compete with SEC schools for recruits ..or better yet they dont even bother to try).

3. Does not technically institutionalize inequality (as uneven TV revenue splitting would) since every school is eligible to fight for bowl spots.

Would probably take threats of leaving to pass this though, as Wake, Duke, BC, etc. love spending absolutely nothing on football and then being handed an equal share of bowl money.

Who would pay for Duke and UNC basketball if that happened?

You know thats why Swoffy keeps the out-dated equal share system we have.

Smart post ... If Clemson and FSU do not use Big XII

leverage over next two months for nothing else than to improve ACC Football and football school revenue share ... than shame on us.

The ACC's pie is too small to fight over.***

Not enough.

Too little too late. No revamping of the revenues will save ACC football. The contract isn't big enough.

Agree 100%. The football schools have got to put some of our collective weight on Tobacco Road. It may be time to play hardball and float some threats of leaving.

Then when the ACC gets paid every

handful of years the revenue from being in the NCAA tournament, we should only get what we earned there. Outside of BCS, the money isn't worth the demand. Every other conference in America has the exact same Bowl and NCAA Tournament sharing system

Unfortunately, with the exception of this past year . . .

May 16, 2012, 8:22 AM

Clemson would have been hurt by that arrangement. This would only benefit us if we went to the Orange Bowl every year.

it's a possibility.

I'm sure TDP didn't cash the basketball check

Absurd idea.
