Still feel like the ACC can right itself and better position the football

heavy programs for a big bump in media revenue, even with the boneheaded move of adding western schools like it did.
Go back to divisions in football with a Premier and Champions approach.
Up Top: Clemson FSU Miami Va Tech UNC NC State Louisville Pitt West Va (Add)
Down Below: Ga Tech BC Syracuse Wake Duke UVA Stanford Cal SMU
The upper division offers a significantly better slate of marketable football more often among themselves than spreading it out all over like we do today. Structure league play for 6 games within a division, two division crossover games (more to preserve rivalries), then one extra (9th league game) where the lower division plays @ an upper division school (5 home / 4 away for top tier). That 9th game would fill in our G5 level slot we have today.
I offer this because this lawsuit is not going to be successful, and we're staring 13 more years right in the face otherwise and something has to change.
With a look-in window coming up in 2025 apparently for ESPN, that's an opportunity for them to bump up the rights value for the enhanced football programming that upper tier games would offer, while maintaining an 'as is' level for those programs where football isn't their driver.

No …it’s done. Once a member asks for a divorce, there is no turning back. In the end, it’s not healthy for either side..and that’s why it’ll get settled one way or another.
This is Step 1. It’s coming.

I'm tired of watching average/bad football in the ACC. Continuing to play average/bad teams will only hurt Clemson IMO. Clemson needs a better caliber of competition. And Clemson tends to play down to inferior ACC competition. I don't believe for a minute that the rest of the ACC is actually narrowing the gap.

When the ACC voted in Syracuse, BC, and Pitt the conference was over
Blame the presidents and ACC on that. They had a chance to get big state schools and chose the academics card. Now its over

I actually floated this same concept by many AD's and head coaches at the time who looked to be negatively impacted by watering down our schedules and content. If we had gone ahead and taken this route then instead of the amorphous, non-sensical Atlantic / Coastal division structure that served to choke off much of our potential, we would be in a much stronger position today.
It was well received in large part based on the feedback I got. Not enough support elsewhere though. There's more of an opening for this today with the turmoil and potential ACC death ahead.

For them picking. After Texas and Oklahoma announced they should have been in the horn the next day and tried to poach some football shops and/or TV markets. Should never have entertained Cal/Stsnford. Heck I don’t mind SMU, there are loads of potential with that school.they should have poached some combination of 5 of these schools. SMU, TCU, Oklahoma state, WV, Baylor, Houston, UCF For continuity could easily have taken, WV, Cin, TCU, Oklahoma State, then pick one of Houston, SMU(my choice becuase the crazy amount of money around that campus) and UCF. 5 keeps ND in play as the 20th or take 7 with ND as 22.

we have to face the harsh reality that it's not likely in the cards as an option until 2036. Got to do something more between now and then.
Regarding FSU, it's also implied that this lawsuit is as much a tool to try and drive negotiations for better compensation as it is a straight split. This proposed format can help accomplish the revenue gap side.

Went back to ESPN now, they would get a worse deal to be split among more teams.

With a divisional realignment like this, we would be significantly increasing the number of higher quality weekly programming with the upper division games more often, plus hosting the additional league game at those venues. It would up the value of ACC football programming, which the upper division programs would claim for themselves. It's a less is more approach in a way, and it's doable.

You don’t have a crystal ball ..nothing is settled, the cases were just filed. Many times there is a settlement before it gets really ugly. Give FSU credit, they’re kicking at the door to get out. More may join, and it will spat the fan when/if the others do.

Too bad the whole money thing exists. Clemson and FSU are the 2 remaining blue bloods left out. Both programs face being left in the dust financially if they can’t get out.
