Not completely, extra practices and a win helps recruiting

The practices and playing time is an essential part of developing talent from within

Look at our offense at Duke vs USC. Did we get better?

Do we not practice all season?

Developing talent? Our freshmen are better than most of our upperclassmen. We have serious coaching issues, I do not know how anyone can not see it.

Also, did getting curb-stomped by TN help recruiting last year?

Anyway, I used to think the same about getting all the extra reps, but I haven't seen anything this year that would say a couple more practices are going to make us good. If anything, I think it would be nice for the studs on defense to show their stuff (that is if they don't sit out).

Extra practices are always good.

That said, the issue is talent pure and simple.

wait til next year when 12 teams make the playoffs. The other gazillion bowl games will fade away into the sunset.

When that happens, they'll just expand the Plaoff

It'll wind up at 32 teams one day.

As it should be in my opinion. Div I college football is the only sport from peewee to pro without a playoff. Its time to correct that

Terrible argument

D1 college football is unique, and thats what used to be great about it. Yea so lets make it like all the other garbage sports. There will NEVER be 16, let alone 32 teams that are good enough to win a title in D1 ball, there just wont. We have struggled to get FOUR competitive teams since the inception of the playoff. How in the #### is adding MORE teams going to make sense? Any any given year, the gap between the top 5 to 8 teams and everyone else is cavernous. Money simply ruining a once great thing.

Yeah because it’s always been a fine line between the 4th ranked team and the 32nd ranked team in D1 college football

Keowee, I look at the bowls, as a form of extra entertainment

for fans wishing to attend.

They also give the schools and players a chance of greater exposure nationally. They are meaningless, as far as the national title goes, but thousands of Americans enjoy watching or attending during the extended holiday period this time of year, so more power to them.

That doesnt really hold much water

Look in the stands of most of these random bowls and no one is there. And I promise you no one is watching them on TV either. Hey who is up for watching UTSA play NMSU in the Kleenex Bowl in Random Town USA?! Answer? No one outside of the parents of those players.

The bowls were meaningless for longer than they've been meaningful

It wasn't until 1974 that they started waiting until the bowls were played before selecting a national champion. They were just glorified exhibition games before that.
