Not Helpful...

Nov 29, 2022, 2:07 AM

A lot of people venting their own frustrations and lack of control of the situation is not helpful for the team. Now you have an entire team listening to a bunch of frustrated fans right before the ACC championship. People strive with support not constant criticism. All this talk can happen after the season is finished. It's ridiculous and distracting to be talking about it now. Right now this coaches and players need to be focused and feel confident. Afterward you can reassess and make changes.

LCC, good post, and you are exactly right. Our coaches and team needs our support now, and not jabbering from people who don't know a football from a Halloween pumpkin.

Dabo didn't win 10 plus games a year for 12 consecutive years by being stupid. So, we lost a game that should have won, but that's certainly not the first time, and it won't be the last. Even great teams play poorly and lose occasionally.

At this time, we need to support our coaches and players as they prepare to win another conference championship.

Truth is, not ONE of us knows what the "problem" is. We know what the "symptoms" are... we plainly see those. Poor coverage in the secondary, poor tackling, turnovers, lack of a passing game, questionable play calling... yep, those are the symptoms of a problem or problems that I suspect run pretty deep. We either trust Dabo to identify and solve the problems, or we hire someone else to do it. Given the fact that Dabo is a proven commodity at solving problems and building the Clemson football program, I am in favor of trusting him. JMO, and I'm entitled to it.

As an aside, I am a little sick of people on here professing to be Clemson fans, and then saying they will not support the Tigers in the ACCCG, and urging others to do the same. I will be there screaming for my Tigers, because that's what they are-- MY TIGERS...win, lose, or draw.

As a multitude of posters have mentioned, the core problem is our beloved HC has backfilled his assistant coach hires in recent years with unqualified candidates that have short resumes and close personal ties to him. These coaches would NEVER be hired by another top 25 program in their current role. The poor play is a direct result or “symptom” of said hires. We would love to be proven wrong, but that’s not looking good at the moment.

I absolutely do NOT dispute what you're saying. Some of the position coaches, along with the OC are definitely problems. I'm just wondering how much deeper the overall problem goes. For right now, Dabo needs to solve the problems. If he doesn't, I suspect we'll see a major shake-up. I really hope it doesn't come to that, because, frankly, I can't think of anyone I'd like to replace him. Again, JMO.

Dabo should get them focused instead of having them.....

Our team better not be listening to a bunch of frustrated fans. They have 9 days of class left this semester. They'd better be studying and finishing papers and projects and presentations when they aren't in class or at practice.

If any part of this team/staff is distracted by TN

Nov 29, 2022, 7:20 AM

maybe that is the problem. Focus.

Criticizing the play in the field, lack of discipline, and horrendous coaching is not being a “bad fan” or “unhelpful”. If our team is sitting around, worried about what fans and alumni are saying, we’ve got bigger problems bc they’re clearly not focused, and maybe the social media ban needs to be reinstated. I’m also confused at which point they’re “student-athletes” or “paid semi-pros”? You want to be treated like an adult, and get paid, this comes with the territory, and God knows DJ has been paid pretty handsomely.

LTC, tactfully said. Thank you. We all needed to hear that. We have a coaching staff that has a team favored to win the 14 member teams ACC championship game. Our commanding officer has worked miracles producing "The Greatest Team Ever" a few years back. We have a lot of action left this year. UNC and a big bowl game, possibly against bama. It's okay to discuss tactics before a battle. I've wanted to see Cade play more and wondered about the way he is used. But as long as I am part of this "team" as a fan I will never make personal attacks on a coach or player. These coaches recruited and coach this great group of players. 10-2 now. Could end the season 12-2 which would be a fantastic year.
