I read today that our women’s lacrosse team has the 6th highest attendance

in the country this year. That’s awesome!
I know that some of that is due to it being a new sport on campus. Being good helps too. But for a sport that many people said we shouldn’t add, and called it a “Yankee sport,” I am thrilled to see the attendance and success already.

Obviously being good helps increase attendance.
But having strong fan support and creating a good home field advantage helps the team play better (and might also affect the other team).
This is really simple.

What you are describing is a reciprocal relationship. Brad has been entirely one-sided so the fans have defected. He took over a team and promptly worsened it. He has been given money and facilities and never really improved anything. He had one particularly good season, fans responded with a spike in attendance and he was rewarded with more money and an extension. The payoff has been a single appearance in the NCAA tournament with a prompt first round exit over the next 5 seasons. 5 seasons after he was supposed to have finally established his program. Defending this crap is embarrassing nonsense at this point.

Schools have lacrosse because many young women play it and there is no need to beat around the bush, it is an equalizer. It is an easy sport to put in and it brings students to Clemson that otherwise go somewhere else so good for Clemson.
