TE play

1

Sep 10, 2023, 1:14 PM

The first two games, I give this group a flat F

And that’s an F- with Bringingstool’s onside kick coverage (or lack thereof)

The blocking is a joke and they aren’t catching well either.

I saw improvement at wideout Saturday, but not at TE

Does anyone disagree?

Not sure about blocking...had to listen to first

Three quarters...but they accounted for about 15% of our catches and receiving yards. If you're tossing to your TE more than 1 outta 10 passes with success...that's a weapon. Again, not sure about the blocking.

I respectfully disagree regarding target %

Not sure about college, but if you target the TE 10-15% of the time, that is in the bottom quartile.

The top 10 teams in the NFL are targeting TE’s 20-40%

Josh Sapp did catch a TD. Don’t know if it counts for anything.

No, I don’t know if it’s a complete fail but unfortunately I can’t argue the general sentiment and questioning our TE play. I rewatched the game this morning and there’s some satisfactory play on some plays, ex: Ennis has a solid block on a Mafah TD. But I’m not sure what Briningstool is doing on some plays, the fumble he looks like he’s trying to pull the defender’s flag when he’s already blocked. When I see positions like this being largely ineffective it makes me wonder what goes on in practice.

Ion practice they are going against Familiarity on the defense. But don’t seem to adjust well in the real ga,e or either not studying the opponent very much

Yes, I could see both of those things occurring. The guys should be getting reps and coaching up on scenarios where they don’t know what’s coming, or, to your point, simulate what’s been seen on tape, to get them more ready for the games.

I get it was CSU and we understandably focused more on what we do vs opponent tape for this game. I just watch us on some plays and shake my head.

How many ON-SIDES kicks have we seen this year?

Sep 10, 2023, 2:50 PM

Seems like everyone and their brother are trying on-sides kicks just for the H311 of it!
