but when ESPN flashed the "Clemson's 1-60 at Chapel Hill" graphic there near the end, my simple brain went immediately to wondering
whether all 60 of those Ls were solely Brownell's doing.
When I answered "No," my brain went to allllll the other CUMBB coaches and teams who'd had a hand in achieving that dismal record.
And I again realized that Clemson is not known as a basketball school.
It is not esteemed as a basketball school.
It may never BE a basketball school.
And as a result, it again occurred to me that coaching basketball at Clemson may not be the easiest job in the world.
Great win for the team, the coach, the program, the recruits, and the university.

It was a fantastic win last night. I think we are all (well, mostly) managed to stay composed and hold on to the win.
Clemson basketball is a tough job, but that doesn't mean we can't be a consistent winner. There are plenty of football schools that manage to remain competitive and make the tournament. We have seen short spurts of that type success when good coaches were in place. Unfortunately, Brownell has shown he's not the guy that can get us where we want to be with regularity.

because opinions vary.
And if Brownell can't get you where you want to be, where do you want to be? A perennial S16 team or better?
Not being pugilistic ... genuinely curious what a "consistent winner" means for a basketball program that's wrapped up in a football school that's wrapped up in a basketball conference.
To me, it means finishing above .500 in conference play every year and at least making a deep run in the ACC tourney, with a puncher's chance at a tourney berth.
Brownell's shown mixed results on that front.

Before Bennett UNC was 63-5 vs UVa in Chapel Hill.
I'd consider UVa a pretty good job and historically a pretty good team.
It's almost like it's hard to win in Chapel Hill since they usually have a really good team...
