Now that i've seen what I've seen

Sep 23, 2012, 4:32 PM

I'm going to go through and predict the rest of the season. Basically the way I see this team, is it is very similar to last year's team. Except last year there were really 3 different clemson teams. There was the clemson team that was 8-0 by playing decent defense and great offense. There was the clemson team that was 2-2 against Georgia Tech, Maryland, Wake Forest, and West Virginia. This team played good offense, but terrible defense and that hurt the offense as well. Managed to win against Maryland and Wake Forest because their defenses weren't very good. And then there was the struggling clemson team against NC State and USC where there were solid defenses, but without Sammy Watkins or a more developed offense clemson struggled badly and did little on the offensive side.

This being said, it looks like this years team has played 4 games as the good offense and bad defense. I Think ultimately Clemson's weakness as far as an opponent appears to be a team with not just a good offense but a great offense. Clemson is completely reliant on the other team making offensive mistakes (i.e. turnovers, missed blocks, penalties).

This being said I think if we continue to see this defenseless version of clemson we will go

@BC (win BC has some offense but they aren't a great offense)

GT at home (toss up, we will have trouble with the offense, but being at home I think puts us over the top. Crowd noise will help get some of those mistakes our defense needs)

VT at home (win, the matchup is a big problem for VT, they have very little offense and can't keep up. We'll see more of the same from last season)

@Wake Forest (win, the deacs don't have enough offense, unless the Thursday night road game gets to the clemson offense its a win)

@Duke (win, duke has a decent offense but just not enough speed to beat clemson, even at home)

Maryland (win, maryland is more of a defensive team, without CJ Brown they can't stay with the Tiger O)

NC State (win, state has some offense, still not enough, and still in death valley, don't see them coming in and winning)

South Carolina (loss, Carolina may not seem like they have the best offense, but the have a lot of speed. If the clemson D improves, combined with playing in the valley it could happen. Still a long way to go before then)

10-2 Clemson team, misses out of the ACC but a chance at an At large BCS game

Good assessment, got to BEAT BC. Also, forget the BCS, I will gladly trade that for a win over USuCk!!!
