Now that regionals are over, what are y’all thinking about the coaching search?

Think we get a coach this week? Or do we have some top candidates still competing?
Here are my top 2: 1. Link Jarrett (ND) - but only if he doesn’t want to bolt for FSU whenever it comes open. 2. Erik Bakich (Michigan)
Three names that get mentioned a lot: Cliff Godwin- I don’t like him, and don’t think he wants to leave ECU. O’Sullivan- I don’t like him either, don’t think he would win big at Clemson, and he probably doesn’t want it anyway. Landon Powell- No. Just no.

We need a coach with vision to be great, Clemson is a great job and the best place ever.
Is Neff doing the interviews or is it the board?
I like both 1 & 2 they both are looking to get away from the harsh winters, hopefully!

Neff will hire the best coach he can find and afford.

Neff can afford me
I will work for 10% discount of Monte's salary and pitch in a weeks stay at Holiday inn express with only MLB channel CWS as entertainment.
Its gonna be good!

OK with waiting on a Super Regional or CWS coach.

I have no idea who Neff is targeting but hope it’s someone that can immediately breathe life into the program. Watching these regionals without Clemson makes me sick.

Agree mostly with your assessment Row86®. Jarrett and Bakich have to be at the top of Neff's list.
Also agree with Landon Powell...seems like Monte Lee reincarnated to me. But maybe its just the goatee.
If we don't land the top 2 guys, I think Scott Jackson from Liberty is legit and deserves consideration.

I would be careful with Link Jarrett. He is a great coach but would he bolt for FSU is the opportunity arises. Mike Martin Jr. is certainly not his dad and I see Link maybe holding out for Florida State as he is alumni there. Martin jr won’t be there too much longer.
Outside of Michigans World Series run Backich has done OK. Didn’t we just fire a coach that was 34-28 ish That’s Michigan's record this year. Didn’t get out of a regional.
Please understand I am not saying don’t talk to them and I’m not s###ing on any of them as they are all doing there thing I just think Neff really needs to do his homework. We need to hurry but not hurry.
Godwin had SEC opportunities in the past but stayed at ECU because it’s his alma matter. He really wants to win at ECU.
You won’t steal an SEC head as they all make way over a million.
This is not an easy decision in my opinion and just my opinion but Clemson needs to look at mid major heads, alumni and power 5 assistants as well.

Great assessment. Most people don't realize it took Backich 10 yrs to turn around Michigan. Rob Vaughn at Maryland has displayed a better, quicker turn around in the Big Ten. I would give him a look before Backich. Don't see him leaving Clemson for his ama matter, KSU. He's the youngest coach in D-1. Relatable to kids today. Recently drafted in the MLB in the last 10 years. Renowned recruiter and has Maryland balling out the last couple of years.

Everyone says dabo will leave doubt. Same if we hired Jarrett. Jr isn’t doing bad.

Martin jr doing alright? You sure? His numbers would be unacceptable here. 2021 31-24 2022 35-24
Mike Martin sr. Had like 40 straight 40 win seasons.
FSU baseball is just as important to them as it is to us and Link is a Seminole first and foremost. That’s why it scares me. Just want us to be smart.

Wonder if they could work into the buyout

That he couldn’t leave for FSU (or within the conference) without owing a large amount of salary to the school.
I think it could work if we offered 1.5 or more a year with a clause like that.
But I also have no idea what his salary at ND is since they keep a tight lid on those things.
