Of course, there's also instances like the Daniel Penny case, where he got jammed up for being a good samaritan....Couple those two things and it would stand to reason reported crime is probably down. There's not as many officers to take the reports, and even if there were normal people don't want to risk getting roped into something that could negatively impact their lives.

2020 did happen under Trump's watch. FWIW, I don't blame 2020 on any one person....But we all know Trump did a horrible job of dealing with the pandemic that year, and the resulting unrest. He was at best completely in over his head, and at worst he was contributing to the problems with his thousands of lies about the pandemic.
We also know that Biden inherited the mess, and the numbers have since gotten better on all fronts. His administration got the vaccines out to America very quickly. The economy has turned around. And crime has come down. He sent a lot of money to state & local governments, which some have used for police activities.

When statistics don't help Trump or Team Red Hat, you pretend they're wrong, made up, or faked. All of the data we have - regardless of source - shows there was a spike in murders & crime in general in 2020. To pretend that it wasn't related to the pandemic, or that Trump had nothing at all to do with it, is idiocy.
And in the last few years, murder rates have plummeted off of that spike. I don't give Biden full credit, but he gets some credit, because he gave a lot of money to local governments to help fight crime.

That's not a "red hat argument", that's simply an acknowledgment of reality. 2020 was generally a year of lawlessness, led largely by soft on crime progressives including our current vice president who helped raise money for the bail funds of rioters.

You can see that murders spiked in 2020, stayed high in 2021, and fell in 2022 and 2023.
I don't think there's any way to look at data like this and pretend that the Pandemic had nothing to do with it.
Note that violent crime in general is down.
I looked at your file, and it tended to show that 2020 and 2021 were similar, which makes sense, as those were the two worst years of the pandemic.
And FWIW, I don't fully blame Trump or Biden. But I do think Trump mis-management of the pandemic in 2020 had an impact moreso than anything with BLM. When Biden took over in 2021, we were in the middle of a national nightmare. We started to normalize in 2022.
I'm not "angry" at you. I'm just calling out the usual tactics that I see from the Red Hats. It's what always happens, no matter whether we're talking about crime data, economic data, and even voting data. Let's just pretend it's all fake, unless it helps our side.

The pandemic did not play any role whatsoever. If anything it prevented them from being worse due to a lot of people being scared to leave their house. It is absurd to say otherwise.
Also note it is estimated most violent crime is not reported to police. Now couple that with A) Police leaving the field at a rapid place in many areas and B) A large portion of the population who no longer trusts them. What do you think the outcome of that is? Probably even less reported crime, no?

There was a huge spike in murders all over the country, including in many areas with small towns and places where BLM and Antifa don't even exist, and places in red states. There was a spike in Montana, South DAkota, all sorts of rural areas, too.
And it went away in 2022 and 2023, after the pandemic ended. To say the pandemic had nothing to do with the murder spike is literally insane.
So, at this point, you're either making it up or you're just not that smart.

I've also demonstrated previously how places with mass shootings reported 0 homicides for the year. I think it's laughable to think we're getting accurate statistics, particularly in places where there's a political motivation to show lower crime stats.
Strictly looking at the murder rate is an asinine way to look at the overall picture, anyway. Like yay, less people got shot but felony assaults and carjacking increased.

I also don’t buy we’re getting accurate statistics due to the fact that there’s a lot of political pressure to make things look better than they are in areas where politicians have gone ‘soft on crime’ through bail reform and other measures. You would have to have a lot of faith that our govt doesn’t lie to us to push agendas to think otherwise, which requires child like naivety. It would also require an unwavering belief in the honesty of law enforcement, which is hilarious change from just a few short years ago.
Like I said above, if we’ve got less officers on the street + huge distrust of law enforcement, it is only logical that we’re getting less reported crimes. So we’re not getting the whole picture.

I disagreed with it then, and I don't support it now. But in fact, Biden has sent more money to police. He has not been in favor of "defunding". He sent 15 billion to states that has been employed in some areas to put more cops on the beat.
If crime was only dropping in blue areas, you might have a point. But it's dropped everywhere, including red areas, urban and rural, big cities and small towns, blue areas and red areas. This type of change couldn't happen just because of fake reporting or even because of Biden (he gets some credit, IMO, but just some). We had a pandemic, which was very disruptive to people's lives. It caused joblessness, and loneliness and people being idle. This is toxic for young people, especially young men. When those pandemic conditions were lifted, it allowed Americans to go back to a more normal cadence of life, and it naturally brought crime back down.
It's the only logical explanation. Your explanations don't hold up.
I'm not old. I'm middle-aged. I have a family: wife, kids, parents & siblings.
You seem to take everything overly personal. You need to stop hating me, and look at what I'm actually saying. There's no way that the drop in crime has been faked. It just doesn't hold up. I'm done with this thread.

All these Antifa people that you think caused everything are still around. All these people that hate the police are still around. But violent crime has dropped, including certainly murders. And this has occurred all over the country, in red and blue areas.

You’re right about red states having higher murder rates but there is more to it. The red states with the highest murder rates are all in the southeast. There is a much higher percentage of black people in these states. Actually the 2 states with the highest murder rates are Mississippi and Louisiana. Those 2 states also have the highest black population per capita in the country. I think it’s well known that African Americans make up less than 13% of the American population yet account for over 50% of American homicide. So i think the states having a higher black population is the cause of the high murder rates. Not the politics.

Also smitty, you are deflecting from the article and facts from the OP. The fact is 8 illegals got caught with weapons while squatting and they had a child around those guns. Then, the prosecutor let 6 of them back out without bail. That’s is absolutely unacceptable and an indictment of NYC’s crooked judicial system.
