Obviously, DW4 is an unmatched talent. But..

how much of his success can be attributed to Tony Elliott, Jeff Scott, Dabo, Brandon Streeter etc? In other words, when we have a less talented QB in the future, can our coaches and system keep the ball rolling? I think so. I think Elliott, for one, is a genius. Opinions?

All the guys we have coming in and are here are immensely talented aside from Schuessler, who is just serviceable in my opinion.

Agree! CU_Kobe is 100% correct. Chad Morris couldn't figure out how to put Stoudt in a position to win ... within his own system.

I give 50% credit to coaching and 50% to recovery time

for Stoudt's bowl performance. He was banged up all year so it's not really fair either way to give full credit to the coaches or to Stoudt's health since I also believe (as others have said) that Morris tried to fit a square peg in a round hole with Stoudt at times.

Our coaches are young.

They are genius and experience will come. DW is a wealth of talent. A wealth of talent is a luxury not a necessity.
Our coaches have already shown they can take a QB with much less natural ability than DW and dominate a ball game. Oklahoma knows this much better than we.

As for the Bama game, the things DW did scrambling

aren't because of coaching, no disrespect intended for our coaches.
I think the coaches can keep the ball rolling for sure but to have over 500 yards and 40 points against, arguably, the best D in the country, will be very tough without him.

difference between last year & his careless approach to using his legs during his freshman campaign.
one of the biggest concerns going into 2015 was could dw stay healthy - he was heady, patient and far more cerebral in his approach - that was coaching.

regimen shows this too. While other schools run the shoes off their beasts of burden we make sure they are in top condition(or strive to) in the event they want to make a career out of football

DW4 has been coached well . He can run any time he likes , but our staff has taught him to understand just when to do it and when not to . I'd say that his show in the Orange Bowl and against Bama's defense were nearer to 1/3 DW , 1/3 Coaching and 1/3 offensive scheme .

It is much like Mariota at Oregon. You can't coach someone

up to that level. They either have IT or they don't. We'll see a drop-off after DW4 - it doesn't matter who is QB or how well he is coached.

I agree with this post. Talent is one thing and Watson has it, the mentality and the attitude to go with it. There would be a drop-off at any school with a QB having Watson's ability; Coaching or no coaching. He is just that gifted!!

I know DW is the best player I have ever seen play college football. Maybe Reggie Bush was as good and Vince Young was special. That being said I believe Zerrick can take us to a Natty. He seems more like a mix between DW and Winston but that's a dang good mix.

Arguably the best coaching staff in the country but DW4

literally changes a game, like a Bo Jackson, Hershel Walker, etc. It spoils us thinking he is top amongst QBs but he is more than that... he is once-in-a-generation game changer and our non-starting QBs look average in comparison. Take DW4 away and we see this. Chad Kelly, by far best in the SEC (per SEC gurus,) has been projected 2nd overall pick 2017 draft.
Dabo and staff inspires belief because they are living proof. All are sincere in the msg and it translates. Not only have they lived it but inspire others to succeed against odds just the same. Alexander, Rodriguez, etc. Our walk-ons have a real chance of making careers in the NFL. Profound in any measure
72 Fla Tiger above is another example Cole kicked some post-season ####

DW4 = Joe Montana 2.0
Definitely an unmatched talent like Dexter Lawrence & Cornell Powell will be as well.
The coaches had the reins on DW4 at the beginning of the season, and with good reason since he hadn't gone through much off season preparation & he was coming off of injury.
I think some of that tentative play calling carried into the season & hindered our rhythm a little late in the year.
I don't expect that this year, and I do think we will see what TE & JS have always wanted to do.
They are young playmakers, but very good imo.
You'll be able to tell more once they work with the new QB's.
FWIW, I know Brandon Streeter is a good play caller. He's proved that at every stop prior to CLEMSON.
Go Tigers!

In my opinion we will be hard pressed to see another talent like DW4 for quite sometime. Contrary to the post I saw a few days ago by an FGF expert, stating that 4-5 star QB'S grow on trees, there are very few who possess the skulls and intangibles that Watson brings to the table. Accurate passing, strong arm, good touch, fairly solid mechanics, nimble feet, good speed, and most importantly, a calmness during games. Hard to find a kid that has all of that. We may find one that runs better. One of these guys we have or get MAY even develop into a better passer. Who knows? But to have all the tools he brings to the table is a tough one. All that said, what I do believe is that our talent level has gotten better every year. It started with the WRs, then the Defense, and finally the O-Line. QB'S are now wanting to play here, seeing what our guys have done and the talent we have. The overall TEAM talent level(and coaching) in the end is going to keep the ball rolling for us quite some time going forward.
