What will our record be in September?

Aug 2, 2017, 1:41 PM

Kent St, Auburn, @UL, BC, @VT

I think we go 3-2 with 2 heartbreakers. 2 close ones where we'll be like "The sky is falling, if we only had Watson..."

But then settle in finishing at 10-2. Win the ACC with an outside chance of playoff at 11-2.

IF, big IF, we start the season 3-0, we will make the playoff.

I think we start 5-0

We will be 5-0 in my opinion, Auburn doesn't the talent to beat us at home. Louisville will be the toughest game but they lost most of their secondary from last season. VT lost their QB and a lot of seniors that where starting last season,

If we lose one of these games it will be because our defense didn't come to play because they are good enough to shut down all of the 1st five teams we play,

Our toughest game unless we self inflict will be FSU at home and North Carolina state in Raleigh.

I still believe we will only lose 1 game at most because of the experience in big games we have and our lights out defense plus great coaching that has won us a record 28 games in two years.

I believe we will make it to the playoffs again!

I think Auburn is the only team on our schedule who has the OL to give themselves a chance vs our front 7. It's tough for me to pick against us at home.. especially in a big game, but my prediction is 4-1 with the loss coming to Auburn.

Ditto, ul and vt don't have the players to stay on the field with us. Think we hold against all barn though

Yep, if we make to October undefeated, the rest of the college football world had better watch out!

Go Tigers!!!! ;)

4-1

@ Louisville will be a tough one

@ VT will be tough too but I think they lost a lot of fire power on offense;

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Hard to say without knowing how we are at QB.

Aug 2, 2017, 2:17 PM

How many games would we have lost all last year without Watson and starting Bryant in his place? There were a lot of close games. If Bryant isn't the answer, will a young guy step up. Kind of hard to.make serious predictions without knowing what the most important player on the field will play like.

5-0 at best, 0-5 at unrealistic worst.

Aug 2, 2017, 2:21 PM

Really though, the only team that actually bothers me in the slightest would be Auburn just because of the unknown factor of Stidham in Malzohns offense. Loserville, it's just Jackson and it's obvious how to beat him now, plus he lost all his offensive support. VT, if that QB stayed then we'd have a problem there but they lost most of their offensive stars too. Offense just has to be clicking some and I don't see a problem with our schedule. 5-0 is very realistic and I see it happening. It'll be a tough though.

Re: 6-0

First two games will tell us a lot, IMO. Clemson should destroy Clark Kent State and beat AW-BURN in a close one. If both of these things don't happen, then it could be a tough grind. Although I won't cry if Clemson wins both by any score. :)

5-0. If you don't BELIEVE - why play?***

4-1....

Aug 2, 2017, 11:47 PM

Might change my mind after seeing us play.
I think Kent St and BC are automatic wins.
The Auburn, @Louisville, @VT trio is a tough one. The road games are a concern and Auburn will be an excellent test.
Conventional wisdom says that we drop one of those. But Dabo seems to lead us into the realm of the unconventional. We can certainly win all 5, but we have to play better than we did in September last year on offense.
I wonder if we'll discover that last year's team leaned so much on DW4 and depended on him to just win games that we'll actually have more focus this year as a team. Our wins might look different than they did last year.
I know some people think that 'we'll get everyone's best shot as the defending champs', but I think we got plenty of that last season.
This group might be hungry and turn it to a different level in the regular season. Last season's team seemed to not put others away and was awful in the turnover department.
Would love some 'boring' games where we win by double digits this year.
