One of my biggest concerns as a result of this basketball…

season is that CBB utilized the transfer portal yet it got him no championships. I felt Dabo was really close to using the portal a little more himself, but who could blame him if he doesn’t, especially after seeing these basketball results first hand.

I would not worry too much. I am quite sure Dabo doesn't look to the basketball program for ways to improve football.

Brad with 23 wins using the portal
Dabo with 11 wins not using the portal
Coach Bakich also utilized the portal and I wouldn’t be shocked if exceeds both Brad and Dabo in wins this season

CBB only got one player out of the portal

Hometown kid who’s brother played football here. He lost several to the portal, however.
I agree as far as Dabo vs. portal…the time is coming.

During my time at Clemson I was accepted into the Work Study Program and my job was at Fike Field House. In addition to signing out balls for the other students to play with, I also came in at 0 dark hundred to clean the pool and diving tank.
When Clemson ended the swimming program, I felt personally betrayed and that the CUAD was stabbing me in the back after all of my heart and soul I poured into that important role.
I don’t want to bring up karma, but now that you have, it’s a valid point.

Little-known fact: Fred Cone, star @ Clemson & Green Bay

… was recruited by Frank Howard based solely on how athletic Cone was on the diving board at the local pool in his tiny hometown.
Cone had never played organized football because his high school was too small to field a team.

Another little known fact. My two bosses at Fike were Fred Cone and Banks McFadden. I got to spend quite a bit of time with both, often just sitting around their offices talking about work, weather, life in general, etc.
At the time I had absolutely ZERO CLUE of the status as Clemson legends. But what I did know was they were two of the nicest, most caring, friendly and down to earth people to work for and with.

I worked at Fike in '77 and '78 and same thing. Saw McFadden and Cone every day and had no idea how legendary they both were. And 2 genuinely nice men.

Same here, I was there from '75-'79 and got to know them too. Agree with everything said.

football transfer portal usage remains steady at 0% (6th year grad asst QBs that don't dress out are not considered portal usage)

in several years.
In fact, Dabo has fallen well short recently.
Perhaps that’s the lesson for Dabo.

Is the lesson to make sure others have low expectations of your program?

Beating preseason expectations is about the dumbest

Argument ever. That’s how you measure success? I see you do it time and time again. Then your jabs at Dabo and football. What a great resume item. Beating low expectations. You hooo!
The day Clemson is picked 13th in football is the time we change football coach. You are too funny and bring such ignorant arguments to defend your hero.
