One thing to remember about realignment...

Dec 1, 2012, 11:55 PM

The ultimate goal (football wise) is to make it possible to get into the four team playoff and make enough money to keep up in this arms race.

Given the perception of the ACC right now, I do not see how you can argue that adding Cincy, UCONN, or even Louisville, gets the ACC any closer than we are now to that. The SEC, PAC, Big12, and even B1G are too good and much more valuable.

That is not bashing the ACC... that is just a fact.

"I've been working since I was 15 continually until now. I worked 40 hours a week at 15, when it wasn't even legal for 15 year olds to work that many hours."

It doesn't seem to matter much to the Clemson Admin.

Dec 1, 2012, 11:58 PM

They have shown nothing but support for the ACC. I think we are stuck here no matter what so we might as well get used to it and make some lemonade out of these lemons.

They ### well better start looking for some honey to put in all this lemonade.

You have to hope our BOT

Dec 1, 2012, 11:59 PM

Is not asleep at the wheel. An FSU and CU to Big 12 would make that conference legit. Top tier.

The B1G is trash though...... even the ACC is better

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

you are right... but that "trash" is pulling in over

Dec 2, 2012, 12:04 AM

$30 million annually per school

Too much of this snap shot of the moment

Dec 2, 2012, 12:06 AM

VT won 10 games 8 straight years, so if they're back then you have 3 really good teams at the top. Don't base this on one year. The ACC will have 3 teams that win 10 wins from here out. VT has had one bad year. SNAP shot

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

THAT MEANS NOTHING

Dec 2, 2012, 12:08 AM

VT winning does NOTHING for the reasons that UGA, UF, and SCU dominate their rivals. They bring in almost 100 mil more over 10 years than we do.

That adds up and builds programs... period.

You think VT going 10-2 helps the ACC gain enough respect when the playoff rolls around?

Problem is either our Tigers or FSU or Miami cannot be consistent enough. One is up the other is down.

VT has been bad for a number of years. Playing in the dump called the acc made them look good.

In 8 years of their 10 win seasons they have won 3 bowl games out of the 8. Sounds par for acc teams.

2004-VT loss to Auburn 16/13 (Sugar Bowl
2005-VT Won over Louisville 35/24 ( Gator Bowl
2006- VT loss to UGA 31/27 ( Chic-Fil-A Bowl
2007-VT loss to Jayhawks 24/21 ( Orange Bowl
2008-VT won over Cinci 20/7 (Orange Bowl
2009-VT won over Tennessee 37/14 (Chic-Fil-A Bowl
2010-VT loss to Stanford 40/12 (Orange Bowl
2011-VT loss to Michigan 23/20 ( Sugar Bowl

You're obviously clueless about Louisville

Dec 2, 2012, 12:04 AM

they have won a BCS bowl and are headed to another. They have as good of facilities as anyone. They love football there cause they're spending to improve. Sorry but you're way off on that. Cincy has been way better than GT or UVA, that is a FACT

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I do not dispute any of that....

Dec 2, 2012, 12:06 AM

but you cannot tell me that those teams make the ACC, and it's teams, worth more to TV and brings us closer to having a shot to get in the playoff...

you have no argument for that

UL is going b/c the Big East HAS to send someone. Do you think they would be going otherwise?

Do you think we're gonna start pulling in the money UCS is because we add Cincy and UL to our conference?

Their Bowl history is even worse than VT's. 07,8, and 9 they didn't go to a bowl. Since 2000 they have won 4 bowl games.

Who else is out there? You act like they can go to any

Dec 2, 2012, 12:08 AM [ in reply to I do not dispute any of that.... ]

conference and take whom they want. The ACC isn't going any where and till you have proof it is, it's all rumors with nothing backing them. Losing GT and UVA isn't a big deal

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Also the ACC took Louisville from the Big 12

Dec 2, 2012, 12:09 AM

Big 12 wanted them. What does that say?

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Also the ACC took Louisville from the Big 12

Dec 2, 2012, 12:12 AM

Lousville is a basketball school is what that says.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

B12 did not want them... that is not true

Dec 2, 2012, 12:12 AM [ in reply to Also the ACC took Louisville from the Big 12 ]

They only wanted them if it would increase their TV revenue, and IT WOULD NOT.

If they take them, they lose money per school.

That's why they didn't invite them.

that's the point....

Dec 2, 2012, 12:10 AM [ in reply to Who else is out there? You act like they can go to any ]

there is NO ONE out there... If you want to close the gap, you have to look elsewhere, period.

UMD didn't hesitate to jump, even with the huge buyout. They will DOUBLE thier income per year in the B1G.

That's a big deal.

You can argue all you want... but the ACC is a primary reason, FSU, VPI, UM, and even Clemson have been "down".

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

"I've been working since I was 15 continually until now. I worked 40 hours a week at 15, when it wasn't even legal for 15 year olds to work that many hours."

I absolutely agree, but we have no invite. We are stuck so

Dec 2, 2012, 12:07 AM

we have to hope the ACC holds together. I don't think the SEC is ever going to ask due to their business model and the Big12 says they are happy at 10 and I believe them.

I still think our administration should be on high alert and working the phones and networking. They should be ahead of the curve on this, but I really don't think we are drawing interest from anyone.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You're right, Clemson has no bargaining chips for how this

Dec 2, 2012, 12:11 AM

is going down. We are a small state and the only conference that makes sense doesn't want us.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I absolutely agree, but we have no invite. We are stuck so

Dec 2, 2012, 12:18 AM [ in reply to I absolutely agree, but we have no invite. We are stuck so ]

The Big 12 is not happy with 10! Not at all! Even if they were last year, they see what is going on now and have had they conference pouched. They will have to adjust and they know it.

Also, they added Louisville. They are not happy with 10.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What you are stating is your opinion not fact

Dec 2, 2012, 12:09 AM

and I simply do not agree with your overall assessment.
