I know the rankings don't do the classes justice, but look at it this way:
We certainly into recruiting each year knowing we have limited amount of space. This allows Dabo to be very selective about recruits and go harder after those select few. Clemson, unlike other schools fill up with players we actually need and fit the system. Other schools have to fill a 24 or 26 player class with a lot players (not original targets) just to fill the class. I think the small classes are way better.
Dabo has a system going here, and we question things from time to time, yet always see coach has the big picture in mind always.

The negative of a small class would just be the combo of a few misses plus people hanging around the program for 4 or 5 years who never end up contributing.
These 2 things, fortunately, haven't really happened at Clemson under Dabo. Guys like Grady Jarrett, Jadar Johnson, Dodd, etc may not have come in and started as freshmen, but were tremendous impacts.
That's the danger of small classes. But like I said, our coaching staff seems to know what they're doing in the evaluation process as well as developing guys over 4 years. So, it's not a huge concern.
