But what are some of us going to say if he lights it up out there? With a different conference, different linemen, scheme, not as much pressure, I could see him doing well. That does not equate to there being anything wrong with us. I’m just saying I could see him lighting it up out there.

A fresh start with a new OC could make a difference for him. Some of his issues were internal though and only he can fix those.

Speed wasn't really DJ's only issue.

His mind froze when under pressure so he made decisions pre-snap. Even on RPOs and any option type play he guessed what the defense would do. His guesses were based on a defense's propensity to respond to a certain play so he was often successful.

It's like a young baseball player (and most of the pros) waiting on the fast ball to knock out of the park. Many of them swing at most pitches like they are indeed fast balls.

I mean in that game I saw a young man going through that game smoothly as if he was whistling an upbeat jazz tune on one of the biggest stages and environments known the world over.

It’s a chicken or the egg type of situation but I believe DJ and Streeter were together the downfall of Clemson’s offense for the past two seasons. Streeter didn’t know what in the hell he was doing as an OC. DJ was too much of a head case.
