Well, the game is only hours away. I know everyone and their mama have reviewed the game. Now it's time to add my name to the list.
I've attached a graphic showing the offensive and defensive rankings of the opponents for both Clemson and OSU. Rankings are from cfbstats.com and I only used rankings of teams against FBS opponents so it wouldn't be skewed from teams like SC State. As expected, Clemson and OSU are each other's hardest opponent to date. What's interesting though is that Clemson has played (on average) better defenses while OSU has (on average) played better offenses. That was a little counterintuitive to me.
OSU has talent all over the field and so does Clemson. This game is going to come down to execution. You are what you are at this point in the season. Players to watch in my opinion are Gallman and Mike Weber. If Gallman is able to consistently run the ball, it will open up things down the field and keep OSU defense predictable. Same goes for Weber. He scares me. We have had a problem with bigger backs such as Connor and Dayes. If Weber is able to convert those 3rd & 3/4, then we are in for a long night because that will open up Barrett running and Samuel playmaking ability. When they pass the ball, I believe we have the distinct advantage with our pass rush vs their O-line.
I suspect that OSU will probably load up to stop our run and challenge our WRs with their DBs. Should be an interesting matchup to see. Also, the other thing I can't wait to see is how aggressive Dabo will be once we get near midfield and going for it on 4th and 1/2. Also, I know Meyer is going to be aggressive as well. This game may be more about who doesn't convert 4th and shorts. I can't wait. It should be a classic.
My heart says Clemson 42-21. But I am sure it will be much closer like 35-30 b/c Meyer doesn't lose often and when he does, it's not usually by double digits.
