I used to be of the same mindset about college football being “kids” playing.
But in todays world of college football… I’m sorry but they’re not kids anymore. Most on the field are being payed to play. Once money gets involved they’re no longer “kids”.
They’re being payed to play and produce. Now as for people screaming ridiculous things at the players for a mistake or miscue… look that’s going to happen but 99% of the time the person or people screaming the ridiculous nonsense can’t tell you what a first down is.
That’s the type of people who only watch the ball and not the ball game. That comes with the territory.
If that tweet is true and some parents are worried about wearing their sons jersey… that sounds like more of a them problem than the fans problem. Fans are drunk and on stuff at ball games and they’re going to say mean and hurtful things.
That shouldn’t deter any parent from being proud to wear their sons jersey. Bc if it were me and somebody said something about my kid I’d just smile and walk it off bc chances are… you’re never going to see that person again so who cares what they think or say.
But no… in todays NIL era… they are no longer “kids”. I’m sure many will disagree and that’s fine I respect your opinion but that’s how I see it. Once money is being paid… the players must then produce.
You must take the bad with the good. Players screamed and hollered they should be paid and they got their wish. So now they must suffer the downside of it that comes along with the money.

Folks who'd rather whine about big media conspiracies and anti-Dabo bias than acknowledge the sport has passed the program by.
The sort who say it's NOT and SHOULD NOT be about the money while pretending the HC isnt cashing six-figure checks after every loss, then spend M-Th scouring the stat lines for moral victories in defense of said HC and his underqualified staff.

They don't require an I.Q. test to get into the stadium. Maybe they should. Macaroons like that should be ignored or called out to shut up. We had a dude behind us in the stands at Clemson who would stand and yell "Man to Man over here" or "Single Coverage on #?. Throw it to him." After listening to him for a few games, I quietly went to him during a quarter break and told him that I use to play QB, I know how to read coverages and so far in 4 games he has not read a single one correctly, so please SFU. He was about ready to attempt murder upon me when his lovely wife told him to sit down and SFU, which he thankfully did. He never yelled out another defense for years. Gal put the fear of God in his sorry, drunken pass.

Of ole Carrot Top’s tweet, if true this isn’t applicable only to Clemson fans.
My boss has three grown kids (one of which went to Clemson), and he told me when his kids started playing sports at a competitive level that he would wear neutral colors to their games and actually sit on the opposing sidelines because the hometown fans were so brutal in their comments about their OWN team.
I don’t really care about the argument regarding players being “paid” either. This isn’t a Clemson problem, it’s a societal one.

My only response to this would've been "you're not much of a parent if you're unwilling to support your son, due to some jerk fans". Plus I don't see many Tiger fans sitting idle if said parent responded to said fan(s). No kid deserves to be bashed for making a mistake in a game.

They should just text the number for a problem in the stands if some dummy says something or bothers then. I think they are pretty responsive from what i have seen.
I didnt see anything like that in my section at the game. Only boos were for the FL state players flopping. People were just disappointed but i dont think i heard anyone blame a particular player.

I totally believe a fan would do that. We have season tickets for baseball and our seats are right above first base in the same section where player parents sit. At one game, a so called fan behind us kept bad mouthing a particular player. He had very little knowledge of the game. The player’s mom was sitting next to us. She finally turned around and let him have it. The entire section applauded her. People don’t realize how bad they sound or they are just ignorant!

I don't understand why people go straight to the insults and personal attacks.
One of the comments I see often is "XXXXX is garbage/trash."
Man, people throw trash and garbage away. Is that what you want to do with that human being?
I get frustrated and yell at the TV but why does Johnny Sophomore have to be garbage or trash? If you're so invested that you have to stoop to that level, maybe find another hobby or source of entertainment. It's like being pissed off on the golf course or fishing.
Dang.
Somebody once told me that anything worth doing is worth doing poorly. It took me a LONG time to really understand that.
