Sure, the allegations are serious, and shouldn’t be made light of. However, I think their fanbase found something they could use to turn him away.

Had the story about his hiring broke, and there was no Sandusky issue, they would be just as upset about the hire, but with no recourse.

Agreed. You'd have a lot of work in front of you to convince me Tennessee football has a conscience. Schiano had a couple splashy seasons at Rutgers but was overall a break-even there and a loser in the pros.

They had hearts and deluded minds set on Kelly or Gruden, either of whom they'd have embraced had they both been serial ax murderers. Problem is, it's just not that good a job. Tennessee is not fertile enough recruiting ground to win with in-staters alone- just like Clemson. UT used to feast on players from the Carolinas and Georgia. With UGA and us on such a roll, those doors are closed and CU and others are dining on the elite talent in Tennessee. Schiano is not a name that could turn that around quickly and UT fans know it.

Cade Mays - #2 OT has UT, UGA and Clemson in his top 3. Doubt that there is now much to stay in TN for.
