Overall, Is this years team more talented then last years?

Aug 20, 2015, 10:34 AM

Feel like if DW comes out of summer camp last year as the starter , then the season would have been much different. They say Defense wins Championships and the 2014 was the best in the nation. This years defense may not be quite as good but there shouldn't be much of a drop off with the talent and Coach V coaching. In your opinion, compared to the slight drop in this years defense from a year ago, has the offense improved as much or way better than the D's difference. I feel this years team as a ton of potential and should live up to it on the field. I also, think that last year's team had all the talent to go further then this years team but had some bad breaks. Which "team" is better top to bottom minus injuries, etc..? Last years or this years? Looking forward to another good, fun college football season.

I would say last year had more experienced talent.***

our defense will not have the massive drop off like many....

fans/media think. I think we'll still be around top 20 on defense just because of our talent level and BV.

overall we have more talent on offense than last year.........that includes Oline we just lack the experience, but i'll take talent over experience any day especially when we're opening with "warmup" games.

One thing to keep in mind (Ohio St) related

The Buckeye team we beat in the Orange Bowl was more talented than the team that won it all last year.

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

The lack of game experience in the offensive line could easily prevent the Tigers from having a championship year. You win with success in the frontline. We will have to wait and see. An injury to a key player could destroy all hope for a top twenty finish. The kicking game is not close to being good and that is bad!

And your reasoning behind this belief? You may be correct, but I do not have the same gut feeling.

Defenses don't win championships any more...it's all about

the offense. Last year, 4 of the top 6 teams in the final playoff rankings were ranked in the top-10 of total yards per game. Baylor was 1st, Oregon was 3rd, TCU was 5th, and Ohio State was 9th. Alabama was also 18th, while FSU was kind of the outlier at 38th, which isn't even terrible.

Meanwhile, we struggled mightily at times on offense last year, and we finished 61st. With Stoudt, we were probably a bottom 25 unit.

With a healthy Watson, I don't see how this offense doesn't crack the top-15 in total offense this year. I don't think the defense will be as dominant, but I still think it's a top-20 unit as well.

I think we are talented, just need to season a little. I think we will have a top twenty defense and if they gel we could sneak into the top ten. Offense should be lights out. I think we can game plan to give DW4 the time he needs until the o line gels. Special teams will be the key,mid go long range field goals won't be money. But if we are aggressive and score TDs don't have to was try about field goals.
