It’s a reflection of a bad QB and even worse WRs.

20. Only 2 attempted over 20. Unbelieveable.
By any criteria, that gameplan and playcalling sucks a giant donkey dong, and whoever is responsible for it owes somebody an apology. And if we don't have players capable of doing better than that, it's pathetic and heads should roll and whoever is responsible for recruiting and developing talent should man up, apologize, and walk away in shame.

Jeff Scott, you are needed in the WR room.
Surely we can afford to hire an analyst to assist in there - what else is he doing right now?

That's attempts, not completions.
I'm not a betting man, but if I were you could have taken my house from me if you had asked me to bet you on that.

It's a reflection on how long the QB has to throw the ball.

Guys...Duke was playing Cover 2; meaning that the deep ball wasn't going to be there and Duke did a great job of keeping everything in front of them; hence the short passes. The QB play was taking what was given....We had almost as many yards in the 3rd qtr as we did the entire first half. The play calling changed from first half to second half and for the better....It's pretty simple....failure to execute the plays....This game could easily have been 28-14 in favor of the Tigers.

Good teams impose their will. It’s been a really long time since we have done that. Taking what they give you will not beat a good team.

Cover 2 has holes down the sideline and between the safeties depending on what style cover 2 it is. I saw alot more single high safety looks in the second half after the run game got rolling. They played the flats very aggressively against any sets that had heavy #s and always had a guy deep on both sidelines. Would have loved to see more routes that would attack the middle of the field and in the seams. They were bound and determined to take away throws outside the numbers. Every team that has had any success on defense against Clemson since LSU in the title game in 2019 has taken away the sidelines and left the middle open. Usually a single LB in the middle of the field to cover all of that ground.
Have got to start using mesh concepts, slants, short posts, and seam verts to get the outside open again.

Thanks for sharing. I was working and only catching the play by play on my phone. This answered my question of “are they not throwing it downfield at all?”

Shocked, shocked I say, that most pass attempt and completions were to the right side.
We’ll see that all year. This is what our QB can do.
