Could this all be strategic: FSU kicks and screams about leaving the ACC, and now Clemson leaking rumors? Could it all be strategy to prompt either the SEC or B1G into an offer? If so this kind of stuff could happen a lot between now and an actual deal. Thoughts?

It's coming from Larry Williams as well. Sapakoff is a coot with USCjr. connections...so if he says USCjr. administration is "nervous", he may indeed have an SEC-connected source.

Exactly, I had to listen to his crowing on the ride home. Charleston Sports Talk, ugh!
But he claims the those behind the scenes at USCjr do not want us in the $EC, especially the chicken coaching staff. I understand why, we all do. You struggle recruiting against your big brother as it is, take away the fact that they're now in the same "greatest conference known to mankind" and they will struggle even more.
Spankinoff even said Beamer himself alluded to that in the $EC media days, that's his go to with recruiting kids against us. We play in the $EC and they don't.

What Beamer and the coaching staff want doesn’t amount to a hill of beams. Espn pulls those strings and the politicians of South Carolina on their board. They will not be willing to cost a state university that much money.

A very good article. A sample: (looks like Beamer is the worried one)
While most Clemson administrators and fans prefer a move to the SEC, the Big Ten is a possibility.
The process, perhaps unfolding, might go like this:
• The Big Ten gets serious about adding a Southern tier led by North Carolina — the top non-Notre Dame prize for both the Big Ten and SEC — and also including Clemson and Florida State, with perhaps Georgia Tech and/or Miami.
• The SEC counters, wanting North Carolina primarily, and seeking to block such a major Big Ten (or Big 12) move into its footprint.
While SEC officials this week again declined to talk about specific schools, SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey was to the point in his annual SEC Media Days address while in Atlanta in July of 2022. Sankey said the SEC is happy with the move to 16 members with the addition of Oklahoma and Texas.
“But we’ll watch what happens around us,” Sankey said, “and be thoughtful but be nimble.”
Very thoughtful and nimble, you can bet, probably including teams of analysts working in a secret basement at SEC headquarters or off-site in Muscle Shoals.
Meanwhile, at South Carolina, there is a mix of joy and angst.
Beamer’s recruiting edge
“Our fan base and coaches do not want Clemson in a league that gives us a great recruiting advantage,” a school senior administrator said. “We respect what our fans want. (And) we will play (Clemson) in all the sports anyway.”
Gamecocks head football coach Shane Beamer in August talked about that precious recruiting edge. He said how thankful he was to be in a conference other schools are scrambling “privately or publicly” to join.
“I mean, every time I look on the phone there’s a school in another conference that’s begging to get out of the conference that they’re in and into the SEC,” Beamer said. “They’re leaving, they’re just trying to figure out how and when.”

To respond to Beaver Butt Face, look at your roster from top to bottom, then do the same with the Clemson roster, now can you honestly say or believe that being in the SEC helps your recruiting to be comparable to Clemson. They MAY get one maybe two recruits that believe that the SEC bullchit song that you're bigger, faster, and stronger if you play in the SEC. Wake up Beaver Butt Face, that tired A$$ song was written by ESECPN trying to keep the best recruits in the SEC bc that is where they throw their biggest piles of money while throwing bird seed to the other conferences. That song worked for a little while until recruits saw FSU win a NC, and then they saw Clemson play in 4 straight title game and winning two NCs against the strongest team in the entire SEC for over a decade and seeing Clemson playing against and beating the strongest that the SEC had to offer, they also realized that the ESECPN song about being biggest, faster, stronger song was total Bullchit!!!!!

He’s a dirtpecker through and through and has great connections inside the program. So it’s interesting to hear him say “SC is nervous”.
He pretty much reports that Clemson is moving conferences but he has no intel letting him know to which conference. So it sounds like it’s good reporting. In the sense he’s not really reaching just reporting what he’s heard.
Kinda confirms what we already knew. That Clemson is on the move and it’s going to happen sooner rather then later. An announcement probably (key word here) is coming sometime before the 24 season starts. So nothing really knew but still good to hear the wheels are in motion.

I listened to Marc Ryan on ESPN Upstate earlier. He said that Sapakoff had “buried the lead story” in his article, basically talking about other stuff. Don’t think he was implying that Sapakoff did it intentionally but just wasn’t the main point of article. Ryan thought it was a pretty big deal Sapakoff hearing that from a “senior Clemson administrator” so he retweeted it.

I have a subscription. Main takeaway: Sapakoff does quote a “senior Clemson administrator”saying that a Clemson “bolt” from the ACC is coming sooner rather than later. Maybe even this year. Many on here label him a “coot” but he’s been a respected newspaper sportswriter for a long time in South Carolina. He has deep connections to both USCjr and Clemson. I saw him speak at a club dinner in Charleston just before the season and he said he thought Clemson would be out of the ACC within 3 seasons but he didn’t have any specifics or sources. If he’s claiming a source inside the Clemson Administration that makes me take it more seriously. I would believe Sapakoff over most of the “internet/twitter/blogger” sources that seem to get a lot of clicks. Take for what it’s worth.

Sapakoff is a journalist but he also is a loose cannon. I do not respect him. He calls LSU real Death Valley.
Several years ago he said Clemson would never win the ACC in football again with Miami, fsu and vt to deal with.
He is a blow hard.

Having been a subscriber to the Post and Courier for 50 years, and a reader of Sapakoff since he started, I will believe anything he writes when I can verify it with more reliable sources. I wouldn’t get all worked up about something he writes.

SEC commissioner couldn't care any less about the coots and their administration wanting to keep Clemson out the SEC. Them and their admin only worries about Clemson making as much cash as they do bc they know that would make it forever impossible for them to ever when another game against even if our starter and backup QB and receivers were out of the game when we waist our time playing them once a year. Not much would change for us except the money, they would still and always make our SOS weaker!!!
