He's been on a roll!
These were apparently seafaring cannibals who got the hatch open on his uncle's plane before it sank, in time to take them to lunch. One guy escaped the plane and apparently missed the abduction by the cannibals.

Anyhoo, when we got ol’ uncle Zug back after the war, he wad’ nt quite right in the head.
