At this point, Trump is the best option at securing our borders.

I get that part.

It's the "securing our borders" part that seems a little more complicated than a 140-character solution sent via X right before a campaign rally.

Maybe…but he eliminated himself as an option for me long ago…but even if he hadn’t, he would have certainly done so when he sat by for hours while people ransacked the capitol. Whatever good he may have done, real or imagined, all went out the window at that moment. And…even if you think it was all orchestrated or the DOJ, FBI, etc. have been weaponized against him…none of that (even if remotely true) is an excuse for sitting on his hands for hours. If ever there was a time to lead, that was it. And now…the same people who ran from the chamber/building to escape the mob now stand up and defend and support a man who was apparently ok sacrificing them on that day. They are cowards, who should have long since moved on and eliminated DJT as an option. Why more haven’t done the same is a mystery to me.

But, yeah, I hear you about Trump. I was involved in Texas politics for a few years, and all the experience taught me is that most people hate thinking for themselves.

Trump taps waaaay down deep into that part of my brain/spirit that looooves 'Merica, loves my freedoms and my guns and my right to protect my rights.

And he's really good at whipping me into a foamy-mouthed frenzy over that which I perceive as being a threat to those things. So I don't really trust his schtick, because I tend to stop* thinking and start* feeling when he starts speaking.

I realize that's not his problem, it's mine. But at least I'm honest about it.

The problem is who is better positioned to lead in a way that comes closest to what I believe in and stand for?

Nobody. And that's the rub.

They should pass the border bill to get the most asylum changes (for the good

of the country) in the last couple decades, then if Trump win the election he can still do what all his supporters think he can. It's really a win win.

He can't do what they hope he can.

But he can and will keep building that wall. And the wall feels good, feels right.

The Maginot Line felt good, felt right, to the French, too. Maybe didn't work out the way they'd hoped. But, it still felt good and right at the time.
