Protecting Howard's Rock not that difficult....

Jun 16, 2013, 1:36 PM

- the clear cover should be made of, thick, proof glass.
- the area should have motion detector lights that activate after dark
- the area should be well equipped with working cameras
- there should be a live web cam on at all times so anyone, from anywhere, can keep tabs on the rock.

Simple.

CU needs to prevent the worst, a Smash n Dash!

I like the direction you are going. Thing is we all feel the Rock is worth its weight in gold, I think its about time we treat it as if its gold. I feel it deserves a spot light from many angles from dusk till dawn. Motion activated cameras in and around the Rock is a must. The thicker glass is a good idea, but adding some sort of shock-sensor that activates an alarm AND flashing lights is a must. It would be great to have some sort of bars come up from the ground that would grab the perp would be great too, but may be asking for too much. I think decorative cast iron gates to keep it closed at night and during the off season is not asking too much. I'm sure someone can leave their desk to unlock the gates to allow a lil kid to have his or her picture beside the Rock isn't asking too much. Clemson University needs to prepare for the worst case scenario which I feel is a smash n dash! Cameras and thicker glass won't prevent a good size fella from coming in with a sledge hammer and making his best swing and haul ###. Just my $0.02 worth.
