What I saw in the final seconds of the half and the product that returned to the field 20 mins later suggests to me that something was said or something happened that destroyed the team mentality, focus, and confidence that was displayed in the first half. It took the team almost a full quarter to shake off those halftime emotions and get back into football mode.
Again, I’m speculating but the only thing I saw was what everyone in the country saw. One of the leaders and most respected players on the team chest to chest yelling at his position coach.
That is not good leadership, that is not a good example to set for your team, and when things like that take place it does effect the other players. It was very disappointing to see and most certainly was not representative of the culture Dabo wants to build in his program. It was divisive and detrimental to the team and it showed when they came back out of the locker room.
Like it or not, the effect of what transpired had in game implications and this was a low stakes game. Had this been a conference game with the stakes much higher where the margin for error is so small, we’d been staring down the barrel of another L.
And I’ll add this…thankfully Coach Spiller (one of the greatest ambassadors to Clemson University ever) handled the situation as best as possible.

Wow that’s a lot of speculation! You have no idea what was said on the side line or what it was about.
You have no idea what was it was not said in the locker room. The team won!! They blew the other team out!
You just want to gripe and complain

I enjoyed the first half. We saw something that’s been missing for a long time. Big plays, players getting excited, an offense clicking on all cylinders.
Yep I enjoyed the heck out of it. But we have some tough games ahead and with the new clock rules every possession matters that much more. So when the team came out at the half and performed like they did it raised some red flags that have me a little concerned.

I found it interesting that Cade was talking to CJ on the sidelines shortly after that happened.... like he was trying to smooth things over for Shipley.
Dabo said in his press conference he wasn't aware and that if anything was said, CJ can handle it. I'm sure Dabo is very aware of what happened and just a great example of him not letting what goes on inside the locker room leave the locker room.
I think Ship knew he was wrong ten seconds after he did it.... he will bounce back just fine and this team will be ready for FSU.

in the love shack. With out other RBs doing so well missing the first half of the game might be just what Ship needs. I'd bust his ask for him getting in CJ's face like that. I love the boy enough to come down on him like a ton of bricks.

It’s both. I saw what I saw. And I’m speculating that it led to something in the locker room that explains the second half performance early in the third.

What explains the poor performance in the second half is the same thing that caused to poor performance in the first half last week, and the loss the week before that.

The second half I saw a team that was trying out some different formations and playing some 2nd team guys. The two back formation seems to be where we are most effective and we didn’t go back to it til the helms drive.

Roughly half of the fans left at halftime and the stadium environment was completely different as well. I know a lot of people don’t put as much stock in that as I do, but since we are speculating, that may have had an effect on the second half as well. This is what worries me about this Saturday. The environment in DV for a night game is so much different than a nooner.
