Friday night, one of my best college buddies came over and we headed to Waxhaw (If you go anywhere else you will pay too much) to meet up with RH and his sweet lady for some local wrasslin' it was fantastic and college buddy and RH were like old pals in no time. The card ended up having a guy that is in the Greenville promotion too.

Saturday I worked on the next YouTube video some, went to Shoeless for the mug club mixer, watched some baseball and rested.

Sunday, on the road again, stopped in to have lunch with my Dad then to meet up with RH and his sweet lady at the Deke Dickerson show and the world famous Thirsty Beaver. It was one hell of a show. Stopped at the Cook-Out on Freedom drive for a late supper where we saw some drug deals go down or something over at the Aldi. Got home and slept great. A truly fantastic weekend.

Friday: Don't remember

Saturday: Yard work day. Pushed all of the leaves into the garden. Sprayed the yard with Cimarron. Then dove into the Azaleas and cut out some trash trees.

Sunday: A bunch of nothing.

Thanks to all of the yardwork, my sinuses are going crazy today.

Spent Thur – Sun on Sugar Mountain. Beautiful 70 degree sunny weather even though the slopes still have snow. Did a lot of work around the house, especially switching Spectrum from standard co-ax cable to their new Xumo streaming platform, which saves some $$. Hung a TV in the main BR, added a new VISIO TV in the bunk room.

Ate well, Filet on Thur, Thai on Friday from Luna, Pizza from Bella’s on Sattidy.

Sun drove home in time to see the other Sheff (Scottie) roll at the Players and then watched to see who Brownlee was gonna Brownlee to this week. I’m sure he’ll have a lobo(otomy) on Friday.
Had a bengaline sighting on the ACCN watching some softball lass night too.

10/10 (19/19 on the RH Covids scale).

Did due a gin.

Celebrated my oldest great nephew's 18th birthday. Used to be a big deal to turn 18 when I was a kid, nowadays not so much I guess.

His dad, my nephew cooked us some burgers on his Blackstone, got me wanting one again. Must...not...buy....wait.

Watched the last round of the PGA Players - winners gonna win I guess. Scheffler is hot right now.

Saturday morning I headed over to the Clemson RV Park for Grillin’ at the Grove (more like grilling on gravel but I digress) to judge some excellent bbq. This was mt 15th with SCBA so after I cook with a team in Spartanburg I’m up for a promotion to Master Judge.
Stuffed with bbq and ribs, I headed to campus to say good bye to what’s left of Johnstone. Walked a big loop of campus to see the new and old.
Only downer was I didn’t get ice cream.

Sunday pretty standard with mom

PS I owe my good football seats to the man Cribb Hall is named after so had to go by and pay homage

Went to Red Bowl in Clemson, then the softball game, then to the in-laws

Saturday - MsLovin and Mcjr ran a 5K in Clemson. I showed support, we caught some fish down on the in-laws' dock.

I battled a 10 lb carp on this little dock demon for over 5 minutes before landing the beast to the delight of my family who witnessed the event.

We caught 4 other bass from the dock.

Sun - Church in the morning, hunted for morels in the woods and found zero. Went out last night with the family for dinner.

Friday, Mrs. and I went wrestling at the Waxhaw Taphouse with aerozeptallica, SharkGirl, and one of aero's Clemson-era pals that is a cool cat and huge wrestling fan. Waxhaw Taphouse is an outdoor show and a great place to see a show, we all had a blast.

Saturday, made the grocery run and then headed up to Mooresville to a brewery to watch wrestling again, but veered off to look at a vehicle up there and ended up buying a 2021 Nissan Armada in the exact configuration that I had been looking for and a price that was too good (based on what I have chased down for almost two years) to walk away from. Missed wrestling, but at least the vehicle journey is finally over. I'll pick it up tomorrow, didn't want to sit there and go through the finance and pay off later this week so they'll detail today and I'll run up with a cashier's check and drive it away tomorrow. Does this make me the first person to ever ask Obed®'s advice and actually end up buying that vehicle?

Sunday, got up early and walked the pup so I could go stand in line for bagel day at the gluten-free bakery. Also picked up a loaf of some incredible Irish soda bread. Mrs. had to work and asked me to go pick them up. Everybody has told me that there is a line around the building and they run out quickly. I got there early and was first at the door, I was shocked at how many people were in line when I walked out. Pretty sure this new business will make it just fine. Lazy afternoon, then headed up to The Thirsty Beaver to meet aero and SharkGirl again and see Deke Dickerson. He comes around once every 2 or 3 years, he packs the house, and it is always one of the best shows you'll see. Deke is an excellent musician, a historian of all things American roots music, writes a column for Guitar Magazine, has played with EVERYBODY (Marty Stuart, Mojo NIxon, Rev. Horton Heat to name a few), written books on classic guitars, and a biography of Merle Travis...the man is one of the single most talented humans on the planet. Take some time to look him up if you don't know.

In simple terms...57/19 Covids. The weekend was THAT great.

At some point, I'll be replacing our 2012 4Runner, and Toyota doesn't seem to be in any hurry coming out with an updated design. Also haven't seen the new Land Cruiser in person yet, nor it's actual pricing.

There's a lot of Armada's on the road around here.

Most of the ones you find on dealer lots are from rental fleets because people who have them hang on to them. It doesn't rank up there with the Toyotas, but it is also the most bang for the buck large SUV out there and the quality is good enough that I can live with. I know two folks that have the fist gen Armada and one is closing in on 200k, the other is just south of 250k. I researched and looked for exactly what I wanted for over two years because I didn't HAVE to have a vehicle, but in this market I found a price I couldn't pass up on one that met every spec I set for myself except color. Wanted the blue, but settled for black.

Your Gen is the Patrol in the rest of the world, which is Nissan’s Land Cruiser, and built to a far better standard than any crappy Altimas they’re churning out in the states.

Prob the only Nissan product I’d buy with complete confidence here in 2024. Prayers sent though, you are still going to get the same dealership service experience as Nay-Nay and her 2016 Sentra.

Friday night boys' soccer practice was cancelled, coach was sick. Took daughter and two friends to a semi-private volleyball lesson. Wife forgot she booked that and we had invited the other two girls to play beach volleyball while the boys practiced soccer.

Saturday morning head to local HS so daughter could play soccer match. She has practiced with this team once, hasn't met coach, and was pretty nervous. Started at LB, got moved to midfield, then LW and she scored twice. They won something like 8-6. She was SUPER pumped and super encouraged, but the competition in Rec league is pretty dire. Drove to Jacksonville, NC for son to play two matches. He missed 20 minutes of first match but it is 8U soccer, who cares. He scored twice and they won both matches. Home to clean up house SOME then get some rest.

Up EARLY Sunday to go to Fayetteville, got a volleyball tourney. The girls won their two matches in pool play then ended up winning the whole thing. They got hot and never lost a set. Spent a good 7-8 hours there, was ready to be home. Stopped at Hi-Wire Brewing and Cugino Forno for the best Pizza in Wilmington then Boombalatis for the best celebratory ice cream in Wilmington then back home. Slept like a baby.

Gym at 5:00 am then do it all over again.

If you are keeping score, kids' teams were 7-0 on the weekend so that made the travel and busy schedule a whole lot easier to tolerate.

This coming weekend every game is in Wilmington so that is nice. Might have to divide and conquer, but at least we wont be all over the eastern part of NC.

Saturday morning Rec for middle son, Saturday noon rec soccer for daughter, and youngest has soccer at a time to be determined locally on Saturday. Easier day and nothing on Sunday for a change. Might be a little relaxing, but probably not.

Friday, went to dinner after work at Sullivans with wife and daughter. Binge watched The Gentleman on netflix with wife-of. Good blood results from the morning and all numbers were good and better than last go-around.

Saturday, slept in 'till 9:30am and it was glorious. Normally can't sleep past 6-7 am and woke up like a new man. Made the fam some dang good grit bowls. Rehabbed the pond by our front door than I haven't touched since leaves started to fall. Ended up pumping all of the water out...getting all the muck out...cleaning pump and filters...cleaning all plants...and refilling. Took the better part of 4 hrs to finish, but looking good now. Took daughter and friend to gym, did a little clothes shopping at Dillards, took daughter and friend to Messican and watched the ACC championship. NCSU was on one heck of a run.

Sunday, slept in AGAIN...took entire fam plus daughter's friend to Texas Roadhouse for lunch...pretty good experience actually. Watched more basketball and the bracket release. Grocery run. Finished The Gentleman. Bed by 9pm.

Friday - home match, got our ##### kicked again. Early game so made it home to chill to some YT music

Saturday - up early and excited, because Clemson daughter came home. Immediately went grocery shopping and breakfast. Man, having kids come back home is such a great thing. I had two 12U matches later, the boys played well and man alive got my first sunburn of 2024. Came home, had shredded chicken wraps, and watched the ACC championship.

Sunday - slept in a hair, tired af. Church and more shopping. More chicken wraps. Also went to Sam's and got the CFA knock-off nuggs.

Sitting at home and thinking, I've got the nuggs, tore-tee-yas, unyuns and tater tots. So my fat ### got the idea to make CFA chicken burritos.

So, here we go

1. Put the milk in the freezer (no pig)

2. Sweat down some unyuns

3.Nuggs and tots going in the oven

4. Laid eggs and unyuns on tore-tee-ya

5. Chopped nuggs, cheese and tots on top

6. Wait a tdrake®in' minute. It's missing something. Dang right it is. I need to 19B® this #### up and top it with some hatch chilis I froze from last year, because my daddy didn't raise a beyotch

My boys from the band Bughead flew into Orlando for a reunion show. Had Friday lunch with the drummer. Amazing bulgogi tacos. Who knew Korean and Mexican could fuse so well?

Friday night, the gang invited me to rehearsal so there was much fun had. Turns out, the trumpet player had an extra Yamaha keyboard stashed at one of the players' houses. Since he already has one and doesn't need it, teenage daughter got herself a sweet keyboard for free

Saturday, reunion show at one of those local music dive bar treasures, Will's Pub in Orlando. Many, many old friends seen and hugged. The show was excellent

Sunday, naps and sports

Sat morn on the road bright and early, thru TX panhandle and then Santa Fe for lunch (best legit Southwestern brisket tacos ever at The Pantry—eat yer heart out 19B®) https://www.pantrysantafe.com/ .

Prettiest New Mexico roads imaginable followed with 150+ miles of two lane, only encountering 1 or two other cars. Final 4 hours to Telluride in a blizzard which was pretty exhausting after 18 hours on the road already, but made it to T-ride around 6:30pm. Great road trip seeing some beautiful scenery.

Ps. F Arkansas. Just a gross state and I always forget how much I dislike it until I go back each time.
