How many were they sending after qb most plays?
I know we couldn't run the ball and they were getting penetration, but were they sending 5 or 6 most plays?

As I recall, 4-5 most plays.

every play...Thacker set them up to force DJ to pass. They had 8 in the box atleast and dared us to throw the ball in a loosy goosy 2 deep zone. Most of the night the middle of the field was open like a virgin on the soltice, we just tried to force our game on them instead of taking advantage of what they were giving up. He may have sent 1 or 2 extra in an obvious passing situation, but I didn't take notice of it.

Ultimately, this is why we had so few running yards. Had Street said, "eff this" and murdered them on the seam, in the flats, and over the top...they would have been forced to abandon their defensive game plan. Street's first half play calling was ol' crusty butt, but we stretched'em in the 2nd and opened up a little.

As long as DJ is QB1, you can expect teams to play defense that will force him to beat them in the air. Ain't slaggin' on DJ, kid is awesome, he's just easy to scheme against. And as we've seen, DJ can make'em pay if they lean too hard one way.

The problem is that it took us 2+ quarters to have the confidence with him throwing. Furman/La Tech no problem since they’re weak. We’ll see the same D game plan afterwards from our opponents. They’ll stack the box, blitz and dare us to throw.
