This a head scratcher. I know Chad has connections in Texas but does he really think that he can recruit good enough athletes to SMU when you are recruiting against Texas, A&M, TCU, Baylor, and Texas Tech? I just don't see how this wouldn't be a futile attempt at making a program relevant considering the demographics of the state. Money talks I guess, 3 million a year - hard to turn that down. Wish him the best, just wish it wouldn't have leaked out until after Saturday.
He just has to recruit well enough to beat the likes of Memphis, UCONN, Houston, Temple, Tulane, Cincy, USF, etc. There is plenty of talent in the state of Texas and with his system, and the talent there, I think he can exceed well enough to get looked at for a bigger job. If he can get them back too .500 for a couple of seasons he will be considered a success. And it wasn't too long ago, between 09-12 they went bowling 4 years straight and won Conference USA with June Jones pass happy West Coast offense, and I feel confident Chad can replicate that in such a talent rich state with the crap teams they play..
