1st time ever, I think

At Ocean Isle for the week and the weather is supposed to be perfect. No rain or storms and only one day over 90deg. We started coming the middle of August about 10 years ago for many reasons, two of the main ones are most of the crowds are gone and the rent is 25% cheaper. So far have not dealt with a hurricane, as it's not officially 'The Season' yet. Yes fellow Tigers.....buy 3, get one free.

You go right ahead and enjoy your sand spurs, fleas, scum all over your car, bumper to bumper traffic and the smell of burning sulfur from the pits of hell (which are nearby). I will be at my mountain retreat, drinking coffee on the deck in temps about 55 degrees and loving every minute. Enjoy!

2k lives his normal life in a beautiful mountain environment so you have nothing on him!

I live a few miles from him and today Is absolutely fantastic at my home. You really need to look hard to find something to top the Blur Ridge. Especially this time of year.

We are going to Ocean Isle for the first time in early September. Any pro tips to share based on your frequent visits? TIA

Calabash is about 8mi away. Go to the Seafood Hut for some of the best Scallops you have ever tasted, you can pay more butt you can't get better. Little more crowded than usual as Ella's burned down several months ago. Still another 6 or 8 places to choose from. Not an abundance of things for kids/young teens to do, but enough to last for a week. Far more laid back than the SC beaches. Enjoy!

Thanks! Just the wife and I. We do like good food, local breweries and walking trails/greenways.

This is what I mean by laid back, its 11am

About 5 miles from one end of island to other on the beach. Most of the greenway type trails are on the mainland. From 9th floor balcony on the only high-rise on island.

It’s a great time of the year to go because all the attractions are open and you have less people to deal with! I personally love both the mountains and the beach but I love the beach the most. I love going to the beach in October too!

I love the beach and flat ground. Some love the mountains, which I do not, but I will not ridicule your choice of retreats and neither should some of you.
