24/7 "DJ needs help"

If you get a chance and want to look deeper into DJ's numbers at GT, read the 24/7 "CFB notes" write up on... "DJ needs some help".

He does. Needs better pocket protection which we aren't used to running and more separation in very very poor receiver performances. Won't be elite necessarily but will be a very good QB if so. I just done believe we are designed to run like that.

He also needs an OC who understands what his strengths are and can design an offense that is suitable for it. A good coordinator knows how to make this adjustment. Good example was in 2018 after losing all 4 starting DL's to the NFL, Venables changed from a 4 man front to a 3-3-5. I know it's only been one game but it seems Streeter doesn't realize this. DJU just appears totally uncomfortable in this offense. It's not his talent it's the offensive scheme in conjunction with sorry OL & WR play.

I agree. I thought he looked much better rolling out when he can survey the field and just ball. See TD pass to Collins. One of the handful of times I’ve seen him throw a WR open in stride. He is slow and cumbersome in the pocket w a leaky OL. Recipe for disaster IMO

The crazy thing is it was obvious last year that our system wasn’t right for the type of quarterback he is yet no changes appeared to be made last year to play to his strengths (or weaknesses). It was obvious to everyone. A slow quarterback and a not so good offensive line are a disaster as we saw last year. Then throw in the bad wide receiver play with it and well we saw what that looked like last season

Re: He Has That Cautious Pretty Boy Style Of Play ---

Its a struggle for him to just want it and take off and run. He never really had to do it. He is strictly way in the back of the class in the Tom Brady School of Quarterbacks. Brady don't run much at all...a bit of a pretty boy...but will stand back there in the pocket and slice a defense up. Sometimes Brady will struggle....but he keeps firing that ball. Brady also has developed that cerebral aspect of his position too. Thats the direction DJ wants to go in my opinion based on his style and who he is. Do we have the people on our coaching staff to build him up to that path...I can only wait and see.

Trevor Lawrence had IT all.....mobility... accuracy...and quarterback IQ. Who did Trevor look up to? Payton Manning. Manning hated to run..but knew how to get down. ?

DJ is going to need to get into the heads of some quarterback gurus to perfect his craft. Streeter can only do so much.
