ACC 2023

2

Jan 19, 2023, 9:00 AM

What is everyone’s thoughts on who will be the main competition to make the ACCCG. IMO it’s FSU with who they bring back on both sides of the ball. Experience matters and we saw them grow throughout the season. One positive is the new ACC format. Good chance we see the Criminoles twice.

UNC would be the third with Drake May and that offense. Defense will keep them from making it though. Pitt is my dark horse.

FSU may be the "favorite" (although Riley could've changed that) followed by us then UNC.

FSU had a good mix of recruiting, portal, & guys coming back to make them a real contender........not to mention how they finished the season.

Honestly the only thing we need now is some playmaking WRs.......outside of Antonio they aren't on our current roster, maybe some freshmen will surprise........I've lost hope of getting a WR from the portal.

While UNC has Maye, they downgraded their OC from Longo leaving........not a terrible hire in Lindsey, but not Longo either.

Completely forgotten about Randall who will finally be 100%, Beaux hasn’t been a slouch when healthy, and Noble averaged 17 yards per catch in HS but yes we only have one

Based on recent history the team that gets touted to dethrone Clemson the most falls flat on their face. Going to be interesting to see if FSU does the same. With the high preseason rankings FSU will receive they will join us in having that bullseye on the back.

Normally I'd agree with you but what I saw in the opener (fsu) and closer has my respect. Plus the way they continued to fight against us let's me know the team has buy in from Norvell .

He crushed it in the transfer and it's not like he's been recruiting bad.

So I'd agree with most on the list of contenders. I haven't paid much attention to Duke. If they have everyone back, they'll surprise some. Possibly a dark horse kinda like wake was this year.

Clemson
FSU
Miami

Then everyone else

Miami has a ton of talent but will the talent finally be utilized?

Poor quarterback play will be Miami's downfall. I'm not sold on Cristobal being a good coach either. Heck of a recruiter (NIL spender) but when he was at Oregon and had Herbert, he still couldn't win big.

I feel Miami is going to be in a similar boat as they were last year. Going to take a couple years to change the culture there.

I think 2023 FSU is substantially overrated.

They could be over-rated but with the job they have done improving their roster, I think they certainly have a chance to be better than last year and maybe even significantly better.

The question is how much better will WE be? A lot of that will be determined by how well and how quickly we integrate Riley's new offense and how well CK gets out of the gate and grows from there. And, it will also be determined by how well we execute on defense and develop the talent we have to its highest potential.

That pretty much covers it. If the offense is good, the QB is good and the defense is good, we might just have a chance. ?

Miami will get some buzz as always

Jan 19, 2023, 10:30 AM

then tank

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think Clemson and FSU will be the two best teams.

Jan 19, 2023, 10:53 AM

UNC might show flashes but I don’t think they will be a legitimate contender.

I think Duke will have a good year.

Miami will probably be overrated again, only to disappoint.

Syracuse and NC State might look good early, but will falter as usual.

The new format should make the ACCCG a much more entertaining game than it has been under the old format.

Clemson / FSU/ UNC/ Miami. Fla State pre ranked #4 with Clemson and UNC being the others in the top #25. Hoping Dabo sees enough good receivers to run the air raid at Clemson now. Needed a lock down corner and receiver from the portal. With passing of FSU snd UNC our secondary is going to be tested

Did we not control that FSU game until the end with DJ at QB. We are playing same guys and I believe our defense will be just as good if not better. FSU had a nice 6 game run but keep in mind, they barely beat a 6-6 Oklahoma team. With Riley in the equation, I think we take it all.

I too still think we end up winning it all but I’m definitely not going to brush off FSU. Especially with all they have returning plus the portal players they have brought in.
